This is by far the most pathetic thing someone has ever said...I have censored out the user name to preserve this guy's dignity. Anyways here it is:
Ice Inferno X3 (3:56:17 PM): You only play video games?! You should consider a social life!

A social life is WAAAAY over-rated.
You're either spending money on:
1.) Booze
2.) Drugs
3.) Car
4.) Opposite Sex
Video games for the most part are entertaining and fill the void for a low, low price. What does all that other crap get you?
1.) Addiction, DUI's, time in jail, liver trouble, embarresing moments, too many others to list.
2.) Same as above, though like 10x worse. Not to mention a bounty on your head if you owe some guy named Snake for that money he let you borrow.
3.) Sure you're cool untill it breaks down, or gets stolen. Or untill someone else gets an even COOLER ride. It's even worse if you're a gearhead as you might as well light your wallet and/or paychecks on fire.
4.) Oh brother. This is THE worst. Do yourself a favor and steer clear of the mental/physical/spiritual/financial/chronological blackhole of relationships. Stick to the wide world of internet adult entertainment and live vicariously through your "joined at the hip, I have two kids, a crappy job, and hate my life" friends.
Stick to video games my friend. They haven't let me down yet!
I am speechless... I never kenw such people exist, he needs help.... fast. By the way, where did you meet this person?

That's really all I can say.
Yesterday, I went to a friend's house, someone brought over a 360. They hooked it up to live and began to play Halo2, there's this guy with an extremely nerdy voice... i couldn't stop laughing for about 5 minutes.

i was playing with some hicks and some bristish people. it was hilarious...im bad i know

Right. Well, Alcohol is overrated, and smells bad. Drugs aren't a whole lot better. I've never bought anything for the opposite sex, except once when I bought a rose for my ex's opening night. That was before we broke off though.
Now for my car...aww man. I don't know what I'd do with myself without one!

I don't understand why people thinking you need those first three things to have a functional social life. I mean, really. I've never drank, never done drugs, and I've only had a few boyfriends. There is so much more to do in life than those...

Social life is indeed overrated. but i Think its good to mix JUST ALITTLE BIT of it with Video games. or else before you know it you'll be fat O_O
and yeah. that guy needs help
http://www.gamefaqs.com/console/gamecube/review/R73708.htmlCould this be you? (I'm a stalker >:D)
Eh, he believes games are a blessing and has reasons as to why. I guess gaming has kept me out of situations like drugs, but maybe it has also held me back from doing other things like starting a revolution...
I don't know anybody where I live. Games can be useful.
How is a social life over rated? That is stupid. I would sell all my computers and blah blah to keep my friends if they were going away. A social life keeps you alive.. Except when your older... when you only have a couple friends here and there... all you need is a girl to drive you insane.

Every thing can get overrated. It's probably good to go the middle way, to balance your life and have a little bit of everything. Everything can get bad if it's to much.
you know what? SEN and gaming is overrated. so go cry to your mommy.

i do agree with that...
should balance it between reality and the gaming world in this case...some people play games so much that they get addicted to it and can't tell between reality and virtual...
well you can't stay home all day and play video games but it as we all know it is entertaining for us...but don't get carried away...we have to work for a living in the world by spending money on bills and food necessary for keeping our living.
some of the professors at my college think it is one of the greatest form of entertainment humans has ever made and one of the biggest impact for the economy yet making kids play these too much made them think it might ruin our society...
but i do enjoy gaming
This is a complicated subject I've noticed a lot of people can't understand. And some of the ones that do understand, try to be cool and still go against it. So I expect a lot of people to disagree with this.
This is economics 101. You're just weighing costs with benefits. Some things benefit people more than others, and some things cost more for people than others as well. It all depends on what you like and what you're willing to give up to get it. That's what it all comes down to.
I've went down both roads. I've had my share of gfs and bullshiz conversations to say that I can vouche that the nerdy side is the less stressful one. The stress level I've had over these last 2 years has been almost nothing at all. And the fun I've been having is about the same, if not more, than the fun I was having when I focused more on a social life. On a first glimpse, this kid is crazy. But if you look at it once, may even need to do it twice more, you'll realize he actually has a point. But like I said before, it all depends on the person. And that person being you.
I completely agree with the kid on the alcohol and drugs part.
However, I love cars and girls too much to ever give them up. I am not really self concious about what kind of car I drive. I don't care if it's ugly, as long as it moves, and is low maintenance, I'm happy. Same goes for women (except for the ugly part XD).
About the drubs and alcohol part. I'm not completely disagreeing with it, i still know gamers who do drugs. Gaming just takes the time away so you have a less chance of doing drugs, unless you are those 7/24 gamers. So if you play 7/24, there will still be problems, but just a diffrent types of problems.
Personally, i just think this guy is just afraid of the real world, the problems that it brings, etc.
Social life, as ye are so blatantly ignorant of, is not "going to parties and hanging at down by the 7-11 with my bros".
Social:
1. Living together in communities.
2. Of or relating to communal living.
3. Of or relating to human society and its modes of organization: social classes; social problems; a social issue.
Social is not limited to "typical teenager interactions", not limited to "drugs, alcohol, girls, and cars", it includes essentially anything you do within the society. Multiplayer games (with communication) are social. You are interacting with other people, right? Walling yourself in will only result in limiting your social skills.
