Staredit Network -> Games -> PS3 "official" release date
Report, edit, etc...Posted by n2o-SiMpSoNs on 2006-03-15 at 21:30:17
Sony Computer Entertainment has announced that PlayStation 3 will be launched worldwide in November 2006, and yes that includes the UK.

It’s bad news for Japan, but better than expected for the US and Europe – Sony has missed its spring launch window for Japan, but today made it official that PS3 will be here for November 2006. On reflection, the announcement sees Sony emerge slightly more favourably than some games industry analysts had predicted – some suggesting that PS3 wouldn’t make it to the US until spring 2007, putting Europe at the end of the pecking order around September 2007.

By launching in November 2006 worldwide Sony can arguably make a bigger impact with PlayStation 3. Of course we’re now looking at the possibility of stock shortages, as was the case with PlayStation 2 when it arrived in the UK, but we’ll cross that bridge as and when. Another concern is that no games were shown at the event; the Japanese development community seem to have been invited along to hear about new technology relating to PSP voice-over opportunities.

The pressure is now on Microsoft to make good with Xbox 360 while it is the only so-called ‘next-generation’ machine available.

Only the Ps3. Consoles are a lot cheaper than PC gaming.

A PC can do everything a console can do and much more. You can hook any kind of controller made to your PC, and you can also do email, browse the Internet, and much, much more.

My point is you need a computer for your daily life these days, so you'll have a computer. Getting a console on top of that is a waste.

A PC costs more then a console.

PC $2000 (Good quality)

Console $400-800 (ALL THE SAME!)

lol tell me. How many people use word process? like a 1:100 000 ratio?

You need specific requirments for games(in the latest technology most computers can't handle it.)

Finally i can make a master post out of this. First computer GAMES can equal hacks cause its right on the computer so thats easy to do but lets take
starcraft for instance. First its that basic 2-d½ RTS game. Ya it has been
hacked by those who want more out of it but whats the point. If you want to cheat then simply go player 1-p and enter power overwhelming. But take the facts to it.
The only exception that people battle on for now on are fastest maps cause
everyone is practically tired with maps that run out of money. Sorry this off topic.

crazy.gif But anyways if the delay of ps3 is till november that means its gona
rival nintendo revolution to see who gets the most shares on the gaming market.
And besides in recent reports to they say its roughly going to cost $499 to $599
while revolution is going to cost $299. The main reason to why people buy
nintendo's console is that its system are cheep and not to hard to control
unlike xbox with its clunky controller.

NO WAY!
PC is a all purpose device. If you want to do word documents and and graph charts with Excel then get a PC if you want to have fun and not pay $1,500 just to play COD2, then get a console. Don't compare what a PC can do to what a GAMING CONSOLE can do, you can compare PC Gaming with Console gaming, but nothing past that.

Personally, I prefer consoles for gaming (offline). You know that the hardware will run the software properly if you have a console.

I'm looking forward to seeing the PS3 in action.

Nov of 2006 is gay...I would still keep with the computer and wait for Vista...So comps would go smoother.

Why is that? It's important information for anyone trying to decide what they plan to die. The trade-off for a computer being capable of much more is that it is more expensive. Even comparing a gaming console to a PC favors the PC because a computer can play games from a variety of older consoles with the right tools.

Exactly, exactly, and exactly! Your all taking the words out of my mouth. In terms of gaming a Console is superior to a computer. Even online gaming on a console is better.

Because comparing everything a PC can do to everything a Console can do is like comparing a boombox to a car. There is a radio in the car, it's sort of important, but it's not the only thing it's designed for. So you could bring up "I can do more with a car" well duh it wasn't made for gaming. The PC was origially created for mathematicians, so that the computer could calculate answer to problems within seconds. When they advanced they were then used to store data (Like the Stock Market and etc.). Also gaming consoles are called GAMING CONSOLES, for GAMING. Not for writing up essays for college. If you buy a PC for solely on gaming not only do you get a much smaller libary but in order to play all the new games you have to blow at least $300 every year or two for a enw video card. And if you want to get a real awesome PC so you don't have to update for 5 years you need to waste 1,500 dollars. Now that might not seem like much but let's do some math:

Xbox360 (Prem.): $400
Online for a Year: $60
Three Extra Controllers: $150
10 $60 Dollar Games: $600

And you already have enough shiz to have the time of your life gaming with a bunch of friends at the cost of: 1,070$ if you had gone with the PC you'd be $430 dollars poorer, with 0 games, but you could probably operate Windows Vista (Oooo 3D windows who cares?) and write up a few documents for college.

So like I said you can't compare PCs as a whole to Gaming Consoles as a whole. They're just not in the same catigory, you might use your PC only for Gaming, but that's not what they're designed for.

Only Xbox Live because you can see all your friends even on different games. And what IP said is going against consoles.

xbox has a klunky cntroller? Are you high? the regular xbox when it first came out had a gigantic controller but the 360 is the best controller out for any of the consoles so far

If you're buying a computer for $2000 dollars you're retarded, enough said.

I can get a quality computer for $600 dollars, but just to make it sweeter, I'll pay an extra $100 dollars on my video card, adding up to $700.
And then, you can buy 40 dollar games. Ten $40 = 400.

And if you know what you're doing, you can DL the games, illegally, of course sad.gif

And PC > Console.

And just to stay on topic...

The PS3 will fail.

Oh course here comes death thinking hes right again, lets clear the first thing up, I AM CANADIAN. Our prices are like double yours.

Like hell you can get a good quality computer for $600. If you did I'd bet that it would break down once a year and to top it off theres the fact that your gonna need a super good vidio card. Say bye bye to another $600 Canadian. PC's are way to fragile too, enough said.

Alright, I can get a GOOD, QUALITY computer for $600 US. It won't "break down", it will work perfectly. And what do you mean, computers are way to fragile? I'm pretty sure if you spill milk on your PS2 it won't last long.

The internal components of a computer wont last long, they'll break down after a year or so.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Deathawk on 2006-03-16 at 17:46:31
Break down? I've had the same motherboard/videocard/proccessor/soundcard/RAM on one of my computers for nearly 4 years, and it never "broke down". It was also used frequently. Of course now, I don't use it. Usually none of that stuff happens unless you overclock your computer anyway.

And isn't this the wrong place to post this type of thread anyway? Shouldn't it be in the gaming forum? I associate consoles with gaming =\
