Staredit Network -> UMS Assistance -> Those little red nuking dots
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Zeratul_101 on 2006-03-17 at 12:50:08
so, is there anyway whatsoever to detect them?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Middle_Finger on 2006-03-17 at 13:57:50
i think not, cuz i never heard of that. but you can make orders for PC to nuke at location, so if you gave that order, you know where is taht location

the dot is supposed to be the aimer for a weapon and i absolutely can't have a unit by the aimer instead

It can't because the dot is a sprite and sprites cannot be detected.

well, it doesn't have to detect the dot, but it can detect where the nuclear is inside a solo on the map...you can try and configure to to do something in your favor...its when you launch the missile and red dot, the missile comes and and missile landing statisfies the bring condition for a nuke

Wrong. units are sprites and you can detect them
Answer is no, and the little red dot its called nuke paint

I'm not sure if this is possible but would EUD conditions let you detect a nuke being launched?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by ZPD on 2006-03-17 at 18:06:50
Units are not sprites. StarCraft triggers can detect units because they have entries in more than just sprites.dat and images.dat. A sprite is created to represent a unit, but it does count as the unit and it is never the unit's sprite that is detected. This is unfortunate, mapping capabilities would be expanded a great deal if sprites were made tangible in maps.

I'm afraid there is no way to detect the nuclear missile target. You may be able to use EUD triggers, but you would have to determine them yourself unless Legacy releases a new version of uBeR@TiOn. The closest you can get is detecting where a nuke is created, and where it is about to explode if you're clever with your triggering. Otherwise, you must find another method for targetting. Dark Swarm, Disruption Web, sieging a Tank, or burrowing a unit are common, although they're aren't as aesthetically pleasing as a nuke dot would be.

His right, They can't be detected.

so, zpd, do you know if it is possible to detect the nuke paint using eud triggers?

that would be pretty cool if u can have just the red dot. OR

Trigger
Description:
Red Dot
Players:
¤ Anyone
Conditions:
¤ Always
Actions:
¤ Set AI Scrit for nuke at Location "1"
¤ wait "1400" or w.e
¤ kill all nuclear silos

But the Sound " Nuclear Launch Detected " will pop up so either spam at the time w. nuke or leave it

the nuclear bomb will b gone and no harm done

Try it!

That won't work, either. You can't manipulate nuclear missiles in any way, as far as I know. mellow.gif

As far as i know, eud's are just scrambled but would work if the numbers(not sure if they have a specific name) for them are found. In the event someone does rediscover them, i just wanna know what they can do

Zeratul is right, EUD conditions are still alive, but some of the memory values got scrambled in the new patch, and if you want to use them you need to find them yourself.
I would bet that nuke dots could be detected, but centering a location on them would require some kind of elaborate grid system, as EUD conditions can't center a location, only determine where, in coordinates, the dot is.

well i know you can't obviously order a nuclear missile to do an action like attacking, i'm just saying though that when you have a nuke in a solo, it'll satisfy the triggers like current player brings and commands a unit for the nuke...preplaced nuclear missiles won't fullfill the conditions though...

using the bring/command conditions for the nuke,i think you can kinda detect they have a nuke to launch the red dot...i have tried it before and it works

i also got that info off from this thing here, its #2
