Alright. To play a mod, you either need to download the .EXE from someone else, or get a program called
MPQDraft, which you can use to either launch an .MPQ file or create your own .EXE that you can run by double-clicking on it.
If you're looking to start making mods, here are the programs that you are most likely to need:
- MPQDraft (above)
-
WinMPQ (which is basically WinZip that works with .MPQ files instead [that SC can read])
-
TBLPad (which you use to edit any and all in-game unit/upgrade/weapon/anything text)
-
RetroGRP (this is for adding your own graphics into the game)
-
DatEdit (for editing units, weapons, portraits, flingys, sprites and images' technical stats)
and
-
ICE (which edits how SC handles all the pictures and graphics in-game)
Once you've got these, find a simple tutorial and start doing it. You may need a few more programs, but these are the main ones.
