There will be a TERRAIN CONTEST!!! The rules are as such!

I. Using any tileset and mapsize, create the best terrain you can. There are three catagories, focus on one or two when making your terrain map.

-Realistic blended terrain
-Creative/experimental terrain
-Minimap terrain images and/or patterns

II. Judging will be done accordingly on a total scale of 0-30

-Creativity 0-10
-Accuracy (making a forest, a city, a lake etc. look realistic) 0-10
-Usage of triggers, sprites, and units to add to the effect of the terrain 0-10

III. No usage of programs that create terrain such as bmp2scm.

IV. The cost to enter the tournament will be 25 SEN minerals. The winner will recieve 70% of the pot, second place gets 20% of the pot, and third wins 10% of the pot.

V. There must be at least eight participants for the tournament to take place. If someone signs up and less than eight people enter the tournament, the minerals will be refunded.

VI. To sign up, send Oo.SOLAR.oO 25 SEN minerals with the comment saying that you're signing up for the tournament.

VII. The map will be due on 4-1-06 (aka april fools day)

I look forward to seeing your work ethic, and whoever else enters. I will be the judge, and I will look at the maps from an objective standpoint. For this contest, it would not be bad to have up to 2 more judges. If you are not entering and you are a credible terrain maker, PM me if you're interested to help judge.

I'm in, I gotta go earn some minerals though. But how can we make terrain blended and have a minimap? Should we make a minimap then in the center make a boz with our blended terrain or something?

Ok cool, I have another idea, No USAGE of sprites!

Boo! Not all of us are perfect terrain mappers. *points at self*
Sometimes i need a few sprites to help me out.

well there are 3 approaches you can take to this, minimap, blends, creative. If you're going for blends, relying on sprites = bad. If it's creative terrain then it's different.

By using sprites you don't learn how to blend! take a few more minutes and find its blends instead of being lazy and place a sprite.

I create vast beutiful scenes and sometimes what im making doesnt blend. and id have to ruin the entire concept of it to blend it. All im saying is im not gonna be using 250 sprites but a good 5-15 should cover me. Plus they help make things look better. I dont rely on sprites they just really help.
