I See so many people saying like "FF7 MADE RPGS INTO WHAT THEY ARE TODAY!" and Crap like that, or like "FF7 Reshaped RPGs, it was the First Real RPG!" or some Bullshiz (Typed not censored) like that. But i played it for the first time afew weeks ago and im Thinkin now, This game is NOT that Great. sorry to all you FF7 Fans but it REALLY ISNT THAT GREAT. FACE THE TRUTH!, people Overrate it so Bad its sickning, people c'mon, think about it, Give me one Real Reason why FF7 isnt overrated.

This quote is actually true, Final Fantasy 7 was a juggernaut to RPGing back in the day and was the first million-dollar sell-out. It's quite an important game in the history of RPG's.



It DID reshape RPG's. But it wasn't the first "real" RPG.



Maybe thats because you played it say, 7 years too late? Graphics wern't high in 1998. Take your time and LISTEN to the story, thats the reason its such a great game.



It was the first 3-D graphic game. Now tell me thats not great? Pay more attenchion to what this game offers.

And I do agree it's overrated now. But back in the day this game was unbelievbly awesome.

Anyways, the point is, you say it's a crappy game. That's all fine and dandy, but, why? Tell me how it didn't set the bar for current RPGs, how it wasn't a great game.

Prove to me that it was a crappy game and I'll say it was overrated too.

My opinion is yes, that it's one of the BEST rpgs created.

Lyon, people like what appeals to them. Everyone is appealed to something different. I am a horror/science fiction gamer so i overrate doom3. But someone who likes halo will say it sucks but i will think halo sucks because it doesn't appeal to me. I truly think halo does suck and its overrated but thats off topic. My point is, people are all different in their likes and dislikes.

Zelda OOT is better and i personaly think it is the first real RPG... FF7 was good but it is like most FF games out there anyway...

Actually Dragon Quest 1 was the first game to spark the RPG genre. Without the realease of that game none of the FFs would've done as well as they did.

If by reshape you mean in 3D? Yeah. It was the first 3D RPG.

I think FF7 is overrated because it's nothing that great. People still call it "The Best Game Ever" even today. It's nothing that amazing, wow, it's in 3D. I don't see Ghost Recon being called the best game ever becaue it looks cool. Story? You mean the bland characters? With an even blander plot? Rip it out of any of the older FFs to get FF7 in 3D making for one long suckfest. Seriously CLoud. The badash badash who is badash with his badash sword and badash style of being badash he continue to kill a badash enemy name Seprioth who is badash. Both of which have abnormally large swords, and nearing psychopathic state. Let's not forget Barret who goes around shooting at things and swearing left and right. There's also Yuffie (A total of 50 lines in the entire game). Cid which is basically Barret with a stick and obession with space. Vincent (See Cloud/Vampire) and some other characters who aren't that great.

Oh yeah, this is an awesome game. The game is actually ok, it's playable, but to call it "The best ever" is overation to the max.

I can't say that the series are bad because I haven't fully played all of them throughout. I've actually only played the GBA ones and I didn't find them too fun to get completely addicted to it. It was however not a boring game. ( *KaboomHahahein still likes Golden Sun better)

I played the game, without playing any other RPG other than Diablo, Diablo 2, and Zelda OoT and I really didn't see what was so good. The game was alright, but honestly, it wasn't THE GREATEST GAME EVER!
I've played a lot of more fun games(On the same console, during the same time period, etc.)

Yes I did mean it like that and don't leave out the CG's in there, they were the first as far as I know of.

Are you refering to character names? Because I agree their but there personalities were awesome. Trust me for someone thats played FF7 over more times then I care to remember, the characters arn't that bad but they could be better(Auron > FF7 Characters )



I hated Cloud's sword personally. Sephiroth's was wierd too, I mean why the hell do you have a sword longer then your own damn body, think about how damn hard it would be to use.



Depends on where you get her and if you use her or not. You can get her at the start before entering Junon(just fight in a forest till you encounter her then answer the questions, blah blah.)



Cid was the badass of the game, personally I think the Cid from FF7 was the best of 'em.



Vincent was attached to Sephiroth too, because of his past(he was in love with Sephiroth Mother[NOT JENOVA! JENOVA ISNT SEPHIROTH'S REAL MOTHER!]) not to mention he was once part of the Turks. He became a vampire because Hojo decided to screw around with him.



I don't think theres anything more to say, Golden just pwned this thread.



The GBA games were horrible. Completely horrible.



1. Zelda is NOT an RPG. Please listen to Golden, he knows what he's talking about.
2. Zelda still is NOT good enough to even be compared to FF7. Better luck next time.
3. If we were to compare FF7 to Zelda it would be FF7 - 6 000 000 000 Zelda - 0
