Im thinking of making a Counter-Strike rpg map. It will have different options to choose, like campaign, multiplayer, and difficulty. I havnt really thought of the story line but maybe i could get some ideas from fellow members of SEN? Like what kind of missions. Hostage situation? Bomb defusal? Recon? Ect. Im trying to make the map like VERY VERY Long. So i will need more than 10 missions playable. And for the weapons. Like any Counter-Strike games (If you played them)you have to earn your money to buy new weapons. Im thinking on putting, m4a1, p228, scout, awp, five-seven, aug, deagle, knife, m3, mp5-navy, glock, and usp. Im thinking of also putting gernades in but i unno how to configure the how the gernades work. I will keep this topic updated on new stuff i added and opinons. So hows my map sound?
Lol, a counterstrike rpg? i would understand arena and sniper but rpg? that's a lil odd, goodluck tho.
you know. like condition zero. btw if u dont know what condition zero is. its basicly counter-strike but its in a single player style. like missions. ima try to make my map like that. including all that other stuff.

So, this is a campaign and an RPG at the same time? Cool! I'm sure you already know, but balancing a campaign against a computer campaign is alot of hard work!
How long is "very long"? The reason I ask, is that from my experience, players usually won't play a map for more than about 30-40 Minutes. However, if you can create this map with an element that keeps the player continuosly interested throughout a long length of time, then congractulations!
You're definately on the right tracks with your ideas, "The hostage situation", "The Bomb defusal" (you could create some cool effects there). I haven't played CounterStrike before, but I'll give you a list of my ideas:
1. Armoured Car Escape! (Refers to recue hostages mission)
2. Use Radio (Doodad) to request reinforcements.
3. Steal the enemies Data Files.
4. Clear the Bunkers (Grenades and explosives)
5. Salary system?
6. Auto dropship reinforcements.
7. Computer ally?
8. Crossing the minefield.
9. Capture the enemie's leader.
10. Bank account?
11. Run past the guards in between doodads without getting noticed (Like Metal Gear Solid) to retrieve special item.
About the grenades. In my new map "Call Of Duty", I had to work out a concept for grenades, that was automatic (because it saves messing around with physical Switches), and also realistic effects. The way I have done it, is as follows:
1. Create a Location, called "Follow 1", roughly 10x10 (size of location refers to grenade throwing range)
2. Set up a trigger, so that "Follow 1" will follow your attacking unit.
3. Set up another trigger, so that when the Computer player brings a unit to "Follow 1", your Grenade trigger (which I haven't explained yet) will execute.
4. Grenade trigger: This is obviously something you may want to play with. The way I did it, was to create a vespene tank at an enemy unit in location "Follow 1", and then kill it (Creating an explosion). At the same time, it plays a WAV file and displays TEXT so that the player is aware that they have just thrown a grenade.
5. Set up a counter system (Sorry to state the obvious here)
I used "Razings Score", but since this is a campaign, you may have a different approach.

hmmm bots... Sounds good to me. But thats gonna be an extra 2-10 days for the AI. Or maybe i can just use junk yard dog... but it seems like lazy work if i do that.
If you just use junkyard dog I'd be very disappointed in this map.

Referring to the previous comment, he's got a point. It sounds like you have alot of faith in this map. If you are going to spend alot of time into, you may as well try and get every little detail to perfection, otherwise its almost a wasted effort. I always just invent an alternative way of doing something. Theres always an alternative way.

Easy enought AI the bot, Just have it like so when a " Unit " reaches a location a randomized switch is running and will randomize his orders so he doesnt do same old thing, like say he goes from Starting point to bomb site, when unit gets to bomb site he maybe order to defend, plant bomb (if has it) or go to another random place, or kill himself lol w/e suits user. =)
Can also randomize spawn of units per go of that level so isnt alway same weapon. I would say player would start out pistol first go and work way up to better weapons. But mah.

Is sides selectedable? Like to be Counter Terrorist or to be Terrorists?
If so i may have few ideas for terrorists..
Terrorist could do these things i guess..
1. Setup booby traps for counter terrorists at entry points
2. Hack the security cameras to monitor for counter-terrorists movements
3. Setup barricades to slow down CT
4. Use hostage as a bodyshield
All can think of right now so mah..

Very well i guess can give you more ideas as come =)
Counter-Terrorist could do..
1. Disable Cameras in complex
2. Disable any booby traps around, but have 25% chance failure
3. Disable get away car
4. Setup comcenter inside complex
5. Save 3 of 5 hostages
6. Disable Bomb site
7. Kill 3 Terrorists get a cash bonus
8. Destory Barricades (must have a generade)
Terrorists...
1. Destory Comcenter, when its up and running
2. Destory CT car outside of complex
3. Kill 3 Counter terrorist get a cash bonus
4. Kill 5 Counter Terrorist with a knife to unlock something
5. Kill 5 hostages alive in a room w/o one being saved by CT

Please don't flame, and if you call a doodad a radio you don't have idea's.
It's really hard to take a game that was specificaly made for multiplayer shootout missions and or hostage rescues and turning it into a various-storyline. I suggest go along under the lines of a Rainbow Six theme of tasks that must be accomplished to complete the map. (for campaign mode that is)
