Staredit Network -> UMS Production -> Snowball Wars: Redemption(Done, but still updated)
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Veta on 2006-03-31 at 15:30:26
I was lazy, I added material by the week, and had many errors; I hope that explains my huge amount of map versions....

The least bugged version of Snowball Wars: Redemption is out now though and I am finally confident enough to post it on SEN, v1.78.

Features Different than that of other Snowball Maps:

-Anti-Map Hack
-More Heros
-Multi-Purpose Points
-Über Heros
-Balanced Terrain
-Efficient Spawning
-Improved Hero, Unit Stats
-Many More Kinds of Upgrades
-Constant Updates (ex. v1.20 - 1.78, all running around in the public)
-Defense Structures
-Symmetrical Terrain
-Good Use of Map Space
-Unit Spawn Stoppers
-Banners (Team Vote System)
-Map Hack Checker; Just incase someone used Annihilation (You can use this with two other users and Check the game for MH and get his ass crashed)
-Variety of Critter Heros
-Hero Packs
-Use of Every Unit Possible
-4v4 Playing (Meant for up to 8 players)
-Countless Preventions for Buggers, Exploiters, etc.
-And Just incase of Bugs; there is a Beacon which users may step on to activate some of my information: Email, Account, etc
-Anti-BS
-No Required Player BS
-Every Unit has a Use, you just don't use it because you don't know how
-And MUCH, MUCH MORE! (But I forget Y'know)

If you don't know how SBW works;

The game consists of 2 teams one at the bottom right and one at the top left. The teams wage strategic war on one another until each enemy player's Igloo (Bunker) is destroyed. You could say it's a combination of TMA, BC, Nexus D, any Mass, and Bunker Wars. Each 20 kills you get 1 Hero Credit, each 100 you get 3, and 1 Über Credit. With these HCs you can purchase strong and defiantly not overpowered hero units. These units typically allow you to use more micro in the game and take strategic points more fluidly rather than having a big blood bath of your units while the enemy bottle necks you. There is A HUGE AMOUNT of methods to doing ANYTHING, so don't think there is only one way to win and only one unit to ever buy, I did my best to balance out bad or weak units, so those previously weak units, or the ones that appear weak, are actually strong/good. You spawn a group of 8 different kinds of units; Ghosts, Marines, Zerglings, Hydras, Vultures, Firebats, Zealots, and Dragoons (After 100 kills,) these are in order from weakest to strongest and also in temporal order of spawn. Games can last anywhere from 10 minutes to 2 hours depending on the skill or your enemies and your team, this is viewed as bad or good by different people (Good for me.) The briefing explains a lot too and the picture I *will* upload will also explain a bit, images help smile.gif.

Things to keep in mind;
Don't hack, you'll crash eventually; Be curtious to idiots, Help and LISTEN to teammates, Buy Heros and use the extra map features to their fullest extent (I added them for a reason.) In this map; less players are an advantage since the smaller team gets more kills (like in a mass.) So if you win 1v3 don't brag... it's not meant to be hard. Use switft and tactical strategies, Micro is important and Macro in this is your overall strategy (ex. I will tank Yellow,) the micro would be (I will put a ling in yellow's base so I can see him from a distance and be farther away when I tank him.) Use Strategy and different methods every game. AND REMEMBER TO HAVE FUN!

I took things into my own hands and uploaded it myself.

Not Important:

All other maps are nothing compared to this, yes it's a bit disorganize compared to some maps (Not to Snowball Maps, shiz this might as well be a Roman Temple compared to a hut,) but understand my space dilemma; I say "All other maps..." in reference to the terrible Snowball Maps floating around today, there are many horrible edits and renditions of the original map (Made by BlueBlaze, a friend of mine,) and they are all terrible. This map is the only map with anti-hack; I stated not it's features above but what other maps DON'T have. Amazing people play such horrible maps these days sad.gif. Alass, I love SBW and it's concept but idiots make terrible maps and ruin it (as does player attitude, being an ass.) I only hope a map worthy of the name Snowball Wars becomes the dominant map played (as mine is right now,) because I can't stand edits of maps; nor can I stand things like "OMFG SUNKEN D 20XX, where XX>06 (I hope you know what I mean.)"

My take: I am not great at making maps and to be honest, I could have done most of this in x-tra if I wanted to because it was that easy... I have 2114 triggers and they are mostly all repeats, the terrain is nothing special, the layout is simple, and the features can be easily imitated as well as the balance. But for some reason this map is still in the eyes of any SBW player 100x better than the trash out right now. I don't want to be 100x better, I just want a map I like to play, and this immense amount of map trash angers me because I DON'T like to play it, and yes there are a few maps that I can say are not trash in the realm of SBW but they are among the few.

~Insight into why I made my take on SBW in the first place

Edit: If you have questions about things or units on the map; I know you will (Patch of Random P12 units...) Just post it or PM me and I will explain on this post. The Patch of BCs is actually a patch of unused units and I decided to incorporate them into my map, I did this by giving them to p12 and then when needed I just give them to the designated player and move it to the correct spawn (I thought it was clever ;-) .) The Bottom left scouts are crash units, (Protoss Markers.) The small squares of odd terrain near each bunker are actually a method I made or found out by myself to stop creep from advancing all over a base (I spawn sunkens and spores in those spaces.) Most of the critter heros, if not all, have description units (Crystals, Resorces, etc) next to them and briefly describe what they do. The Panda gives 1 Multi-Purpose point every 2 minutes, Ranthom gives 1 Hero Credit per 2 1/2 minute and 1 Über Credit per 5 minutes. The "Makes XXXX Invinc, Units", the Kakaru and Ragnasaur, actually just heal very quickly and don't allow units to die inless hit with a blow that can kill them in one hit (or many units attack one unit.) These units are devastating when coupled and are meant to be.

Triggers go up to about 1050 in kills and at 1000 you get a hero called "A Giant Iron," a starport, that floats and reduces any enemy HP to 1% and enemy buildings to 40%. Nukes cause burning in one hit on Bunkers. (Usually with 550-650 HP to spare, if it's a direct hit.) Bunkers have 2006 HP

ALSO: If you want or have ideas for things to add... go ahead and tell me, I've heard so much random BS that I won't care if it's dumb (Sometimes I even consider it!)

Seems like a nice map but dont just make the layout a wall, bunkers, units put some kind of interesting twist in there like a yeti or snowwurm.

The concept was not my idea, the idea behind it; is to kill the enemy with micro.

Plus I used every unit I could with out modding... so uh X_x

Edit: What do you even mean? I have units called snowworms and yetis already?! Please convey your message more clearly.
