Death Count Triggers?
As in; can I use one of those players to be the designated DC player? (I use players 1-8.)
what the hell are u talking about?

I'm pretty sure you can. You mean use players 9-12's Death counts to activate triggers for players 1-8 right? It should work not sure since I just pick random units that are not in the game for the deathcounts.

Yeah
Testing it right now... I didn't want to because I was lazy but... I guess I will just incase.
I think the only thing that you cant do to P8-12 are run ai scripts for them...
you mean 9-12.
There are a lot of other triggers that don't affect them either. You can't create units through triggers for them and other triggers that I can't think of right now.
Aye, I did exactly what the tutorial said and it's just spawn my units every second instead of every 10 seconds. Like I set it...
I think you can't set deaths for P9-12. Wasn't that an issue back when EUD's were still alive?
hint at the Extended player deaths. p12 isnt extended and because of the way starcraft was programmed, recieves deahths when its units are killed. It would crash starcraft everytime you killed a nuetral unit if they couldnt have deaths. and since p12 has deaths so do p1-11. p13+ cant have deaths anymore.
to make some sense...triggers wont work for that player unless you give them a start location.
and i think it would make the map or game go wierd if you place a start location for players 9+...but i havent experimented much on giving the extra player start locations though...but would that make the game or map wierd?
i think though it might read an error has occured on the map file or something,
ive never seen a map in the hosting/creation screen on bnet have the players adding up more than 9+.
Are "neutral players (in StarEdit)" and P12 exactly the same? If they are I'm pretty sure triggers will work for them regardless of if they have a start location or not. Maybe P12 gets his own start location in a weird, unseeable place or they don't need one.
neutral players and player 12 are different. player 12 is always neutral to every player, it will never attack anything(even if assigned to do so i think). dont think you can change its alliance either...however setting the regular 1-8 players to neutral is different, you can set their alliance and they will follow it.
in regular staredit, mineral patches and critters are owned by player 12. human players that leave will have their units automatically given to player 12 also.
P8-12 don't need start locations, if you do place them, it does nothing to the map... P13+ do 'things' to sc...
P8 DOES need a start location!

DUH! I was just pointing it out so people don't get confused.
well, placing the player units in the map without a start location will be hostile to anyone an attack any enemy. and also players without a start location, triggers won't work on that player.
i do know that, but never really tested putting start locations for p9-12...player 12 is a special case where it doesn't need a start location because its in every game if you know what i mean. player 12 is just neutral and it'll stay neutral.
