im trying to make it so player 1 starts with all units already upgraded and everything available. whenever i set the settings for player 1 in the SCMdraft units and forces screens, it doesnt work in-game.

i set all the defaults for player 1 to as high as they go, but still nothing. is there something im not doing right?

thanks.

ADDITION:
sorry to double post, but i also need to ask: how do i change the amount of minerals and gas a player starts with at the start of a game?

try using x-tra editor if you're sure that u're not making some mistake like
make your map & call the first version "my map 0.1" then update it & save under name "my map 0.2" & still open "my map 0.1" in starcraft

double check everything

about minerals

there is a default trigger in every map that gives 50 minerals to all players
just change it

You don't look in the Forces or Unit Settings, you look in the Upgrade and Special Ability Settings. Set all Upgrades to 3 (or 255, etc. depending on your map) and set all special abillity to 1.

Your second question:

Trigger
Players:
¤ -Which Ever Player you want for the minerals and gas to be set
Conditions:
¤ -Always (or Elasped Time = 0 Seconds if you feel like it)
Actions:
¤ -Set Resources Minerals = XXXX
¤ -Set Resources Gas = YYYY

Simple as that, Starcraft even has a single trigger action type dedicated to that.

In SCMdraft, it is different than normal staredit or xtra, and has what is usually under player settings under the settings of the actual units.

Based on what I can see of your experience with mapmaking, I would recommend using xtra editor instead of SCM draft. It is far more user-friendly, and can most likely do most everything you need it to do for you; whatever it can't do, do later in SCMdraft. Once you get more used to everything, then start using SCMdraft again.

In Xtra editor, hit the Player tab, and hit Settings. From here, you can hit Upgrades or Special Abilities. Just set to 1/1 to have things researched or upgraded. And, of course, for upgrades, they can go up to 255.

don't mean to sound rude, but if you're having trouble with this, it might actually be better to use just plain staredit at first, unless you're already fairly proficient with it. In that case, follow everyone elses' advice and go with xtra. scmdraft by far has the most features but its also one of the more complicated editors.

on topic: make sure you got the right default set. if you set the default to the levels you want, make sure that the default for player 1 button is unselected. i'm betting thats your problem or maybe you keep on clicking cancel

actually i have a long history of map making and game editing, all the way back to the days when i made maps and units for tiberian sun years ago. ive done programming and have college classes under my belt using computer languages.

i started with xtra and felt it was too boring and plain. yeah it was easy but it doesnt have the same control as scm draft. i like scm draft, just started using it, and im just trying to get a feel for the options it has.

in addition: i did do some of those things you guys listed, and for some reason its giving me an "error loading scenario" command every time i try to use the map. oh well, somthing ill have to figure out.
