SPELL OF THE DRUIDS
---------------------------


A magical adventure, which illustrates a battle between good and
evil.

The evil Druids have cast a spell on Jupe's brother. Fortunately,
the Druids didn't see Jupe as a threat Jupe goes on a quest to
hunt down all 3 Druids so that he can break the spell.

It is a struggling journey, as you fight enemies, introduced to
powerful Magic, and solve secrets that allow you to gain access
to the Druids Temples.

Fight for your beloved brother

I want this map to result as a major success, therefore I'm
going to spend alot of time perfecting every possible attribute.
My main intentions are to create an atmosperic, gripping RPG,
that isn't just "kill and heal", but an adventure that involves
a bit of problem solving, a storyline that will keep the player
wondering what will happen next, and never seen before
features, that I have already planned out very well.

I've picked out some music themes from the Final Fantasy games. I have 3 different music loops designed for specific area of the map. Also, I have some nice Magic sounds, which I will use every time a spell is cast. I will keep updating the Screenshots as I make further progress, so keep checking back to see what's new!

Well goodluck, hopefully it isn't a 10 minute game like call of duty rpg that you made, fill up your terrain, don't leave it blank.

Thanks Kupo. I've learned my lesson there! This game will have much more creative terrain, and I'm aiming for a 20-30 minutes gameplay. I don't want to go any more than that.

I don't want to sound rude but the map size seems a little small for a rpg does it not?
I can't play this now because im at school, but from your one picture and using the mini map it seems that your terrians set up to use an area completion system?
ex: your enter one area and you cannot leave it until you kill all evil in the area then the gates unlock to the next area.

You'd be surprised. The game will last 20-30 minutes, as it involves 5 minutes of cinematics, quests that you must complete so that you can move on to the next peice of terrain, and lots of fun battles with the advanced battle system I'm working on.

Hell yeah! I usually use SCCE for creating more realistic terrain, instead of square tiles, which I'd use in most other maps. I then import it into Starforge or SCMDraft and do the rest in there. I'm guessing you are new to map creating, Mp)Lyon.

You COULD use SCXE if you really want that ISOM terrain. Or use the ISOM option in SCMDraft or Starforge.

First of all, SCXE PWNS ALL OTHER EDITORS!

Now onto other things...
Map looks well organized, but ur overexagerating to a poiint where it's obvious to everyone. You cant have all them features in that tiny of a map(unless u terrain ppl do that cut&paste stuff, iono) and from judging ur last map, Im not sure if u can capture this whole feeling of ambience thing. However, ive been proven wrong and I hope to be, I could use a new rpg to play. Anyway goodluck finish this one.

Yeah, my last map totally lacked the ambience. I had alot of players complain that it felt too empty, and I'd have to agree. However, I learn from my mistakes, and can only get better.

I'm designing this map in terms of quality over quantity. If it is a success, then I'll have the confidence to create my next map on a much larger scale.

So far, I've managed to fit in most of the features, even though it is a 128x128 size map. I've spent many hours constructing the triggers, so hopefully I'll pull this one off.

Oh... and please don't judge me from my last map. I rushed it. I have better examples of my work.

ADDITION:
Okay guys, here's the deal. I'm starting over. I
have most of the triggers and cinematics complete,
but I'm going to make this map extra special, by
making it a 256x256 size tileset, and I'm working
extra hard on the terrain. Once this map is
complete, I promise it to be an A-list map.

CURRENT FEATURES:

Beautiful music
3 Minutes of cinematics (chooseable to watch in game)

Secrets (for all you map hackers!)

I'm glad to see you're takin the time2 work on the terrain attentively, no matter what people say about taking too long to make a map, work your pace and get your map the way you want it. Whether 2 months, 2 days, or 2 years do it at your own pace. And goodluck you sound alot more excited about your map now.

I should have thanked you, and I will now, for giving me some very useful feedback. Because of you, I decided to go for a 256x256 Tileset, which was a good decision for many reasons. Now the terrain is looking beautiful, with loads of different themes, including "temples", "rivers", "boss arenas", "secret pathways" and more.

Keep checking back as I'll keep updating my progess.

Thank you. I've created quite alot of FX like that. All I did was kill a Dark Archon, and then I created a High Templar in its place. Nothing special compared to the other features I'm building.

There is a trailer for it, but I haven't released it yet, as I think it may take away the fun from the completed version. I'm still considering it. I guess I'll just see what other people have to say...
