Since this topic can be so broad, i will not make it a poll. Instead, i would like to hear any comments you guys have about what will happen. For background information: The mayan's had invented a calendar that was only 33 seconds off. It was so accurate and yet it will supposedly stop on the year of 2012 of december 21st. According to the mayans, this will be judgement day where the end of the world will happen. Spooky enough, the end of the world is supposed to happen in 2012 because of the pope: peter of rome. Once he takes office, he will destroy rome and it will bring the end of the world on the same day the mayans calculated without even knowing about each other. Do you feel that this will happen? Or is it just a load of crap? Or maybe our world will still exist but our way of life will change? Please post any comments on what you think will happen.

Nonsense. All of it.

Bullshiz, the mayans were fooles IMO, they can't predict the future.

Perhaps but how does 1 man predict every single pope and what their name is and what they stand for? So far, every single pope we have had has been correct to the man's prediction.

...what does Nostradamus have to do with the Mayans?

I think you did not read the topic...The man who predicted that pope to end the world was the same time when the mayan calendar is supposed to end and end the world.

I read the topic. The point is, it's a coincidence. Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon fits in with much of The Wizard of Oz, but that's likely a coincidence as well, though a very large one. It's still more plausible than some guy and the Mayans rightly predicting the "end of the world" to be on the same day.

It's a coincidence even though the man predicted when he died and what by? (he didn't kill himself; died of natural causes) The mayans predicted when their empire would die out and they were right. My point is, they might actually be right.

No predicted dates will come true to the end of the world, for God said that he will come swiftly "like a theif in the night". We won't know when, but when it happens, it goes fast.

That's religious. How do you know there is even a god at all? Bah, going off topic. Everything happens for a reason. Maybe because the pope destroys rome, the god(s)(godX) will destroy the technological world of ours and only have forests that stay standing.

if it doesnt happen by the pope, im sure someone out there will try to destroy the world because they want the prediction to come true

Nostradomus does not say that the world will end in 2012, i've read the prediction concerning this. He says that the Anti-Christ will come in 2014.

you know, many people said that the world will end at the moment when we get into the 2000 year, since it's a "round" number.

a lot of "end of the world predictions", when failed, were shifted to the future again by man.

personally i belive what bibel says (decoded) (btw, decoding it predicted 11th of september). & if the bibel will be true (if i remember the year correctly) it will be 206x where X-something i forgot (i remembered it according to it, i will die with the world when i'll be a grandfather)

(pliz correct me if someone remembers this date for sure)

I belive that there was supose to be a judgement day a few years ago. Also a few years after that. People always say that the world will end on a certain day. But hasnt yet. I guess we will see when the time comes.

The world will not end. All these "prophecies" are just open-ended general statements that people will interpet to fit current events.

Another problem is that there are simply so many "end of the world" prophecies. When you have as many as we do, then there's a good chance that atleast some of them will overlap. And then we try to add credibility to them with other prophecies that end up coming true. ( out of the countless times as many that don't that we don't know about because no one cares about them because there's so many and they mean nothing - or atleast wouldn't if we didn't place so much value in them )

I assume you watched this program on The History Channel. The 2012 Mayan prophecies coincide with the X number of good popes, this last good pope is called Benedict XIV.
The pope prophecies were made in the 1200's, by a monk who was given a vision of all popes. He then wrote down the names of all popes, from Peter to Benedict XIV and a brief description of all of them. I do remember that he called John Paul II the traveling pope, and it is indeed true, as John Paul II was the pope that traveled the most.

There were many other profecies that stated judgement day to be around 2012, but I do not remember them exactly, as I saw the program several months ago.

I saw this a million times on Google, like at least 2 million results. I have seen it on the news, and my friend says the magnetic field will reverse, causing the earth and sun to go boom.

There's already been enough doomsday prophecies that were proven incorrect, I believe it's safe to say that the future ones will be false as well. I bet that the Mayan's calender simply ended there because they got sick of extending on it, so they just called it the Judgement Day.

I like Einstein's idea better. He said the world would end in 2080 or something like that. Which is really close is you consider it. I forget why he thought that though.

EDIT:
Fourms don't make sense.
