Staredit Network -> Terrain -> Wilhelm Inspired Terrain Blends
Report, edit, etc...Posted by WoodenFire on 2006-04-13 at 12:30:09
Ive been looking at some of Wilhelm's latest works and find some blend areas that I found to be very lucritive with perfect blends. These are some of the rough draft pieces which will probably continue to evolve. They have a few light lines but do not seem blocky because of those lines from pilars and such.

Rate them if you would like! They are only works inspired by Wilhelm and I have a few more which I will not be showing SEN for personal collection reasons.

And yes, these are screenshots taken directly from Crescent Dyne RPG. Observe the minimap while you are at it.

Ok so, here they are!

This was actually the second one I made and I was surprized of how small this piece got to a point where I had a ramp coming down to a pit which goes into an underground temple. A VERY USEFULL piece. Especially with the addition of Cave/Building insides in Crescent Dyne. smile.gif I like it at least... and thats all that counts.

This baby has about 20 alternative versions... I have yet to find the best on perfect blends and this was the one I chose just to see how it would layout in a open area and it does its job well by splitting up that round island into at least 3 battle areas being top, left, and bottom. Not as usefull as the aspect that you can't go down a ramp into the temple, but! Get this... There is 1 square, 1x1 in size, which you can Land from the AIR!!! Interesting? Airship-accessed? Base jumping only? Ooh the possabilities! Lol smile.gif

Ok, I hope you like this small taste of blends. I just got an efficant way to take screenshots n' such so I hope ya like it.

If you have any questions or want further blends/ latest versions of these, contact me at WoodenFire@UsEast, or BieachDrinker on AIM. Thanks.

If you come up with better versions of these pieces, or think you can provide me with additional details, modifcations, ect... also send a message to the contacts above!

Nice blends, I like the creativity in the new blends you've made. Looks like you've also done some major terraining since the version I have.

Has it any use? Because it doesn't look too good. Maybe 6/10 for the blend.

I stated the major uses below the pictures. I just fixed up the 2nd one alot... The version I posted sucked... Oh well.

Any recogmendations Dead? I actually considered putting a backramp on #2... But It somewhat takes away from the size. Maybe I could alter it... ahh hold one let me do some blendies. Lol !~

Added this baby. Its molding along much better. This one looks godly in-game. Tons of blockiness was reduced in this one.

I will see if I can get a ramp modification of it sometime tonight. ~ Oh boy, I'm gonna be screenshoting so much! I got a good system for loading pics real fast. smile.gif

Look's pretty good wooden, personally i see no use for it unless it is a hidden temple or something

good blends, but ive seen all your awesome stuff, so it doesnt suprise me u made another amazing few pieces, but in the 2nd and 3rd pics, the very first thing i notice is the line between the rocky cliff and the pillar, maybe if u could just change that cliff piece itll look better, lines dont usually bother me, but when its something like rocks gettin cut off halfway, it just bothers me...

Sorry but... i dont see any ramp on the 2nd and 3rd pics... And, i got 2 questions: Is the part surrounded with null terran supposed to be in temples? and 2nd: Where can i download this map?

4/10.

They are far from blending perfectly. Look at the right of the entrace to the temple. See it? It needs much work.

Ok, I am reworking it alot.

And by the way, both pieces are actually ramps! I discovered even templars can reach the dirt centers! The top one is obviuosly rampish... with the bridge highdirt/dirt transition pieces, but this bottom one actually is very walkable to the core! Interesting. Ok I reworked it alot, I will keep altering it.... I don't really know how much better it will get, If I am unsatisfied with the end result, I can always just take it out of Crescent Dyne...

I love the first one... your nuts Syphon.

I dont even understand... when I try and make extended terrain, It looks soo crapy. Let me know if anyone wants to make a zelda game...Im no terrainer I cant make stuff like wooden and Wilhem if my life depended on it.
I am a Trigger guy. I am a pretty good one too. Came up with even a few concepts.
This is going out to wooden, Whilhem, Kupo, or anyone else that is somewhat good. Even if you dont want to do alot. Any help would be great. I have great expectations for the map I am creating but without the terrain help, no map will compare to wooden's CD. And without extensive triggers no map will compare to CD. Now adays for a good map to come out, you need a team of 2-3, or a team of 2. One making extended terrain and the other doing the triggers.

I have such amazing Ideas, but I cant even get close to the level of CD because of the terrain.

Would anyone like to help me? The name of the game is Zelda The Two Thrones.
Let me know
