Fast-food chain looking at making its own $4 Xbox games and selling them with value meals.
"Do you want fries or an Xbox game with that?"

Gamers might be hearing that on grub runs soon, as fast-food chain Burger King is apparently looking into creating its own line of branded titles for use on the Xbox and Xbox 360.

Pro blog Kotaku was tipped off earlier this week to a survey being sent around by marketing research company Greenfield Online on behalf of the burgermongers. The survey indicated that BK was considering offering three games--a fighting game, an action game, and a racing game--that would be compatible with the Xbox and Xbox 360. The games would also sport a bite-size price, ringing in at $4 a pop.

Kotaku then reported that Greenfield Online "confirmed" the authenticity of the survey by threatening to sue the site if it didn't remove the story and conceptual images of the games. Kotaku refused.

Today the blog is going toe-to-toe with the King again, as it apparently linked to and posted excerpts of a FAQ on the Web site of Burger King's marketing firm. The FAQ was supposedly intended for Burger King employees to bring them up to speed on the game project, but the link leads to a dead page at the moment.

Still, Kotaku has posted excerpts from the FAQ with more details about the plans. Apparently the promotion is expected to run for five weeks, with a new game being offered each of the first three weeks. Although no dates are given for the promotion, it should start later this year. The FAQ indicates that it will run concurrent with a BK Kids Dance Dance Revolution promotion (likely consisting of DDR-themed kids' meal toys).

This would not be Burger King's first foray into games. The frozen-faced mascot known only as "the King" appeared as a trainer in Electronic Arts' Fight Night Round 3.

Burger King and Greenfield Online did not return requests for comment.

I fear for the future of games...Now we will have games where The King will beat down Ronald Mcdonald in the ring or a game where The King goes on an adventure to collect Chicken Sandwiches with bacon and NO lettuce on them. According to the article the games will be 4 bucks but stupid kids will buy them....they gotta be complete crap for that price! What a SCAM! What do you guys think?

that's worse than when my pizza hut used to give out computer games that ran on like a pentium 75mhz and was like a 4 minute side scrolling pile of wang called like "FURNACE FRENZY" or something where you need to send the pizza onto the conveyor belt or blah blah...

If BK pulls something like that, the games will be PURE shiz. Don't buy it is all I gotta say (if they come out)

What if they're the best games ever? Then what?

I'd be shocked and amazed. And they wouldn't be sold for 4$.

Who wouldn't pay $4 for a copy of Halo with The King as an unlockable bonus character?

People who's parents won't let them play rated M games, people without xbox, people who don't like video games, people who don't like halo, etc.

Me.

I could go into an entire argument about how halo is the hugest pile of shiz "FPS" EVER, but i won't.

But I'll never pay for that game, or any variation, or one with "The King" as a bonus character...

Could be funny though ;P

burger king ain't the only fast food place that support games...i guess the food and gaming is making us more lazier and idea to make it convienent for us...we can play all day while the food is just nearby.

its kinda like how McDonald's is supporting the nintendo ds, where the McDonalds, are setting up hotspots for wifi connections. i think this would attract lots of people and customers. the setting up is free, but all you need is a ds...

anyway, somehow i think burger king and mcdonalds are having a little bitter rivalry between them on gaming.

Anyways, burger king is awesome. If it nets them profits, so be it.

Anyone remember those Pizza Hut demo discs for the playstation 1? This somewhat reminds me of them. Meh, I just hope Burger King doesn't blow all their money on making these games and nobody will buy them tongue.gif.

Hey, I could backup the "flame" with valid points if you want, that would make it not a flame, yes? wink.gif

I think that burger king shouldnt bother...it'll probably be a waste of their money even trying to do something like that...and if they do, the people that buy it are moms like "ugh" as their kid is like "MOMMY MOMMY I WANT DA GAME!!!11!ONE!!1", to make 'em shut up.

I doubt it'll make them a profit.
