Staredit Network -> UMS Assistance -> Limited Triggers

I know there is a trigger limit, but I need to know what the limit is. Is there a limit total for each player, or an overall limit for all the players?

The reason I need to know, is because I'm setting up a complex health/magic system in my map, which I need about 100 triggers for. Thats on top of the triggers. Is it possible to have, maybe 200 triggers for 1 player?

theres actually no direct limit on triggers, you can put in as many as you want, but there are some limiting factors. Most people won't wait to dl 2 megabyte map. This is something i've heard, but isn't a 100% confirmed. Apparently, if your map is too big, the dl will actually reset itself back to zero - therefore making it impossible to dl for the general public. of course, you could always just email it to some of your friends.

Ahh.. good question. The only limits on triggers are the strings, so I wouldnt put a comment on all of them...

Thanks guys. Thats just what I needed to know. Do you know what the string limit is?

Also,

Is this true? Are you refering to downloading from battlenet online games or SEN? The reason I ask, is because this is a Single player game, for SEN users to download from the DB page. I think there is a 5MB limit, but I'm predicting my map will reach around 3MB, which is over the limit you suggested.

The Trigger limit is 1.7 Million i believe.

Wayyy to much, for 1 player is 700000 or near there.

The theoretical trigger limit is 1 789 569.

Reasoning: Each "section" in the CHK file has a number which tells you how long the section is. It is an unsigned long, meaning it can hold up to 4 294 967 295. Since each trigger is 2400 bytes long..
4 294 967 295 / 2400 = 1 789 569.70625

As for if you could ever get that many? .. Probably not.

The "string limit" is technically 1024, but you can bypass this by using SCMDraft2.

I've downloaded a 40 megabyte map on Battlenet before (from mind archon). There is a limit that is even larger than that where battle.net will simply not let you host it.
