The Bad News

• Bridge isn't walk able
• There is little to no actual blending going on
• Prime example of Tile Smashing is displayed on your cave->cliff lack-of-blendings
• Your cliff backs are so straight, and thus, unnatural
• I see mirrored ramps, mirrored cliff backings, repetitive cliff face, and other unrealistic additions
• The basic Idea you have should be compressed to a much smaller area, and thus, be more effective in becoming a 'masterpiece'
• There are spacing problems
• There are height issues
• There is a complete lack of doodads, grass, and other custom additions which could of been done
• The lack of sprites lets me think you just don't care
• Your water area setup is a perfect retangle, another unnatural aspect

The Good News

• Colorful if you squint your eyes

The WoodenFire Index

• Nothing more then a 1/10 for the squint-your-eyes equals colorful looking aspect

This is about an hours worth of terrain research I put in for you. I came up with these three, the top 2 are the ones you would probably want to go with. I hope you realize those 2 special tiles which make all the differense. They are neither perfect blends, but they are only about 5-15% blocky.

• Colorful if you squint your eyes

Funniest thing I've heard all day.

Unfortunately, I do agree with him. Nothing exceptional or even noteworthy here.

I actually kind of like his blending in the water. Water to water tiles is so impressive when someone pulls it off correctly.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by glytchur on 2006-04-15 at 11:19:39
now the question is, did he try to blend the water?

but overall it is blocky, definetely something a new terrainer would make, but not bad for one of your first trys, and dont let wooden discourage you, he doesnt understand that noob terrainers get better...

I like this one blend where the high dirt is close to the water. Havent tried it so I'm not sure if it's easy to pull off.

I kinda like how the last one has a little path after the bridge before the cave

Too bad it isn't walkable....
Report, edit, etc...Posted by A_of_s_t on 2006-04-18 at 01:36:07
lol, I thought that you ( woodenfire ) said that unwalkable terrain thats meant to be walkable is obsolete and just just be garabage.

O, and them are some pretty 1.1 shots of the terrain.

Those bridges were made for this thread, not Crescent Dyne. And I have 3 other examples to choose from...

Well AngeL) we all were once as bad as you. But we all get better, just keep trying new things and don't let us discourage you. Because us SENer's are hardcore like that and we speak the truth. So goodluck with any of your upcomming terrain peices.
