I'm going to get a new mp3 player and I'm a pretty hardcore Creative fan but I want to know your opinions on this.

I'd go with the Creative, I'm always afraid I would mistake the nano for a cookie and eat it.

Creative beats it by 100x

The Creative is looking "vastly superior" in this situation...

You're probably going to get Creative, but just to add in that I have a nano. And it's a good device, you need a good case though and the "optional" battery charger.

I'm not a big fan of the Nano, but I know a friend who has had a lot of problems with his Creative. He now has to keep elastic bands around it or he gets no sound and it randomly switches itself off.

The Nano is also the weakest of the iPods. It breaks pretty easilly. If they still sold them, I'd prefer the iPod Mini. It looks like it would suit you the best, too :\

but i want the creative video player because it has a better battery life than ipod video but it cost like 20 dollars more =/

anyways i think you should get the nano just because its cool and no one i knows nano has broke.

I'd go for the Creative. I had an old one and it rocked. It's a mini hard drive too. I could put my SC stuff on it.

Actually it's the strongest of them because it has no moving parts. You can run it over with a car and all you'd suffer would be minor scratches from the pavement.

I'd still go for the Creative, like everyone else. It has 2x the storage, more colors, and all the other stuff. The only thing, like LW said, the Nano has over it is interface and the iPod nametag.

I was actually talking about the screen. The screen is pretty weak sad.gif

Isn't the Creative that scrolling tingy really hard to use? Cuz my friend has one and I end up picking the song right above/below the one I want to hear.

MicroPhoto, i the nanos are NOT Worth it. if you drop it once, GG. there broken and cant be Fixed. and they can only hold like what, 1000 Songs?

Well, the specs of the creative is superior. However I find that the user friendliness is much better with the iPods in general rather than the creative. Its kinda annoying having to pick your finger up to scroll down rather than just have a circle. (Yes, I'm very very lazy. Picking up a finger is hard work.)

Also the nano has a very long batterly life, i dont know how long the creative's.

For the durability, I know the nano is not that good. The creative isn't any better as far as I know.

I currently find them both equally hard to use because I've never gotten anything similar to scrolly thing or a laptop.

The cons as I see them:

Zen MicroPhoto:
Fatter (might be good)
Mini Hard Disk (may skip while running?)
Seemingly not as durable (friend showed me his Micro and how his is beatup)
OLED screen life and display

iPod Nano:
Smaller disk space (not so important)
No tuner
No replacable battery (each charge decreases battery life)
Scratches easily?

ADDITION:
Added poll.

It's surprising how big 4 Gigabytes of music is.

I don't think so, not sure. I've had my Nano for a few months now the only reason I noticed less battery power was because I realized my battery is at half way once I'm done with it at the end of the day. So I leave the backlight on. The only con I see with it besides scrathes is the charger DOES NOT come with the Nano itself. Which is a rip off.

If you put audiobooks on your MP3 player, you'll have no room in no time.

You can't just use the USB? That's bullshiz. They wouldn't sell an iPod without some way of recharging it. Maybe it doesn't come with a cradle, but that's just novelty junk anyway.

ADDITION:
The main advantage of the nano, I believe is no moving parts. I don't get why people are saying it's weak. What are your sources?

First hand knowledge. sad.gif

About 4 months ago or so, my friend broke his Nano's screen with his elbow.

This is first hand knowledge because I was there. Unfortunatly, I can't really prove it, so I'll just use this...
"Within days of the nano's release, some users reported damage to the nano, suggesting that the LCD screen had become so scratched that it was unreadable, even when the backlight was on. Other owners reported that their nano's screen cracked with no provocation.[8] "
