Not sure what happened to map, but it sure looks like it's close to impossible to produce such map. After all none will pay you for that and you will probably loose interest after few months.

Anyway, if you try then good luck smile.gif

I think it is definately possible. I've already thought of a really nice grid/switch/counter system for all the players' moves and utilities. I'm even adding an option for Tutorials.

I esimate this map will take me about 2 - 3 weeks to complete.

2-3 weeks? Ok, make it in a month and well will see tongue.gif
Report, edit, etc...Posted by XMercury on 2006-04-17 at 10:52:44
Okay then! LOL how hard can it be?

This is what I have to think about;
Switches for each property (28 in total) - 54 for 2 players
Grid system (40 sqaures in total)
Randomize system for dice/chance/community chest (Easy)
Counter system for each move (Score 6 on dice, you get 6 in DC, then each time you pass a location, minus 1 from the DC)
Trading properties and money system
Tutorials

I'll have to make it 2 players maximum. You're right, it is pretty complicated, but I'll figure it out.

Id go with 2-8 players...
Report, edit, etc...Posted by XMercury on 2006-04-17 at 11:51:49
I'll consider 4 players. I'm not sure if I have underestimated the extent of the triggering.

Hey, I really appreciate your offer. I'll definately message you in the future if I need a tester.

Thanks.

I'm also making a Monopoly map and from seeing your maps I can tell you that you are not yet experienced enough to pull off a hard map like this. This map has extremely hard triggering, unless you're going to make a really simple thing... Not the greatest idea ermm.gif
Just let me make mine and you can enjoy it when it's done cool1.gif
Btw, I'm looking forward to your RPG, maybe work on that first...? blink.gif

First of all, thanks for the last comment.

I feel that you strongly underestimate my skills. You have judged me by the maps that I spent very little time making. I am now prepared to spend the required amount of time in making a good map, and not rush them like I did with my past RPGs. I will prove to you that my true map making skills are highly respectable. However, I am not suggesting that I am more experienced than you, as I would not know.

Good luck with your Monopoly version. I hope it goes well for you.

Devlin's had alot of other stuff added to it to make the game alot funner too. With just 2 players and movement and buying property it could be possible in 2-3 weeks

Just for the record guys, this is a 2-4 player game from now on. I'll edit my first post.

I'm sure his map will be great, but I have some impressive tricks up my sleeve too, as you will soon see by my current map in production (the link down below) I think the sooner I release my new map the better, because then people wouldn't underestimate me.

Your monopoly better use a dropship command system... There is no doubts about this.

Learn the triggers as you go... and again, i suggest and PUSH for 2-EIGHT players.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Gigins on 2006-04-17 at 13:46:05
Eight players might be a problem. Not that it wouldn't work by any means but it's a lot of extra triggers and work. For example a player must be in game in order to run hypers. So if he leaves you must assign them to another player and so on. That means that whole 8 players must not have any other trigger with waits. And so on. I have made few 8 player maps and helped 1 of my friends with 8 player defence map. It's really lot's of extra things to think of. Besides it's a long time to wait till all other 7 players make their moves.

I say, 6 players is the gold way wink.gif

I would go for 4 Players. In real life, I've never really played with more than 4. It might be hard to find 3 other B.Net people willing to play that long though.

But it's sure bigger chance with 6 players. Even if 2 or 3 leaves there is still enough for the game tongue.gif

I'm a little confused as to why you guys sometimes give me irrelevant information. Maybe you're not reading the previous posts.

However, I'll just add that sometimes I recieve very useful information.

Learn the triggers as you go

How do you know I don't already know the triggers? I've implanted a system in my new map which is more advanced than the dropship system, which I have used before. Read my previous posts in "Spell of the druids" as I think you will find it quite interesting.

Woodenfire, I know you are a skilled and talented map creator, but honestly, you must think out of the picture. A drophship system is messy, and too slow. I have a grid system, consisting of 40 squares. It is really quite simple, because the units move in 1 direction in an consistant pattern, automaticaly, while the Human players (consisting of maximum: 4) choose their options of all the possible commands in the actual board game.

How do you plan on detecting which square the player is on and moving them from that square? Monopoly maps are a lot of work kid. I doubt 2-3 weeks. I'm guessing with what i've seen from you.. many many months, not completed, or completed poorly.

Since when were dropships advanced..?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by WoodenFire on 2006-04-17 at 14:02:52
I was refering to a previous post and I didn't mean it to be offensive. I don't know your talent... I will go by your word. Grid systems have been out for a long time...

I don't know what dropship system you think is messy... you are probably a little behind on that 1. And speed? Why do you need speed? Don't you need to think in monopoly? Or is this like... MASSING/BOUNDING monopoly?

Your confusing me with your 40 point grid system wuh? I would require a better explaination perhaps.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by XMercury on 2006-04-17 at 14:11:47
Here's my last post for this topic. I'm really tired of having to explain myself because people only read parts of the topic posts, and end up saying things like...

QUOTE
Since when were dropships advanced..?

I didn't say they were advanced. But if you had read the previous topics, you'd understand my reason for the statement I made.

QUOTE

No, I'm not behind. I'm a perfectionist and in my opinion, it looks messy. Sorry, but you can't argue with me over my personal opinions.

QUOTE

As I stated earlier, don't judge me on my first maps. They were rushed. I completed all 3 of those RPGs in less than a week.

Guys, feel free to talk in this topic, but this was my last visit.
