Um, because Megadeth, even outside of its years of worthwhile releases (1984-1994), is still a better band than Metallica ever was. Dave Mustaine had a score to settle after he was sent back to California on a bus. He had a purpose, and in 1990 he had a hand in one of the greatest thrash albums ever, Rust in Peace. Metallica never really showed much purpose in what they were doing.

Kill 'Em All and Ride the Lightning are somewhat enjoyable, but after that it's all downhill, and it keeps going downhill. The negative impact of Master of Puppets on metal is immeasurable, AJFA was an attempt to go over the top that failed miserably, the "black album" is largely commercial crap, Load is just that (a load), Reload is a bigger one, and St. Anger is a strong candidate for the worst album EVER.
