Why do we have the CIA anymore? It's kind of a weird organization. It doesn't really do anything Military Intelligence or the NSA can't handle, so why don't we just cut off the fat and plunk it somewhere else?

It seems as though the CIA has gotten a little out of hand lately. It does things that are not quite legal, and it's hard to figure out what it's doing. I can't tell if this is good or bad.

What should be done with the CIA?

I say change their policies and tactics. Keep the CIA but turn them into something better. The CIA has to be one of the worst intel agencies ever.

I do believe you're talking about The White House.

Theres nothing bad about having bases in other countries. -.-

CIA is our spy organization I believe or at least they operate spies. Thats why we keep them around.

1. Yes, there is something bad about having bases in other countries when they do not want them. It's called foreign relations deteriorating.

2. Yes, they are our civillian intelligence organization. We've already established that. They have undercover intelligence officers, yes, but they also have data analysts and other forms of support.

The question is: why do we keep the CIA around when the NSA can handle data analyzation and electronic information gathering, and millitary intelligence can handle intelligence officers, data analysts and other forms of support?

Because Bush Sr. was the leader of the CIA, created AIDS to kill off homosexuals and blacks, and Bush Jr. won't destroy, only elaborate on what his daddy could, and could not do.

The KGB was extremely more efficient IMO.

The KGB and the FBI 'dueled' for a while while the FBI was still young. The FBI 'won', and american counter-intelligence (God forbid) won.

What does the CIA do anyway? The FBI seems to do most of the intelligence and counter-intelligence things, and the army can do the brute force part of 'protecting' the United States.

That's just the thing. Most of the stuff the CIA does is classified, and you will never hear about it. I can garuentee they're doing something, whether it's morally correct or not, helpful or not, etc. is beyond my knowledge, but you can't expect any military organization to just go into a passive state.

mmm interesting. Can you tell me what Countries that we have a base in that they do not want us there? As in CIA base. Becuase I came to understand that the countries that had our CIA bases allowed them, but since the all knowing news agencies released the data on the where abouts of the CIA bases, those countries now can and do become targets of Terrorists becuase they are helping the United States or at least allowing us to do the things we need to do.

It is pointless to capture somebody in another country and fly them ALL the way to the USA only to find out we got the wrong guy or that he/she is innocent. Find them, put them in our base in the other country, they are innocent, release them in that same country. That seems to make more sense to me.

Define "they". The governments of the eastern European countries where prisons are rumored to be supposedly agreed secretly, but if the country's population in general found out for sure, they'd be outraged.
