Hey there, this is my official The Daggerfall Chronicles Thread. Here you will find all updates regarding to my new map in progress The Daggerfall Chronicles.

Story


The story starts when the Emperor send you on a mission regarding the ocurring events in the city-state of Daggerfall. The Emperor has given you instructions to find out why Lysandus, the former king of Daggerfall is still haunting the streets. The other assingment is to find the Emperor's letter sent to Queen Mynisera, Lysandus' widowed wife. The letter never got to Mynisera because when the emperor wrote it Mynisera was Queen and when the letter got there Aubk-i was Queen. Aubk-i is the wife of Kin Gothryd, son of Lysandus.

As you took your voyage across the sea in order to get to Daggerfall, you struck a strom and were shipwrecked. You were lucky enough to findh the shore and get to some rock cave. As you slept during the night, the cave caved in and you had no way to return to the beaches. As your thoughts of starvation and death keep raging on, you find a small corridor on the other end of the cave. This is your way out...

Although in the real game there are over 30 classes and you can make your own custom class, I decided the were the most important classes, as all the other classes were sub-classes and so on.

All updates will be done here in this very post. Updates will not be put at the end of this thread. Screenshots will be put below this section. Any help or comment posted will be under screenshots or in screenshots.

I need help on this extended-terrain, I need a tower here in this small space.

Just some bridge I made. The cliffs you see are custom made with square terrain.

I expect to finish the map not very soon at all. Each dungeon will be a map, so that means I will have to make many maps. Although there will be side-quests, I have decided to eliminta side-quest dungeaons and incorporate side-quests in the same dungeon as main quests.

PS: Sorry about screenshots SEN didn't let me post them because of some domain thing although I have done so seccesfully before. Anyways the link is the same as the image I only have to put the [IMG] things, but then it don't let me post because of some domain thing?

For the images, some hosts don't allow outside linking of images. Not our fault.
As for the map, looks good. I like the picture where it says "Cheat Enabled" tongue.gif

Story's pretty good (like the game) and the map looks good as well. Sounds like it will be a good map. w00t.gif

Thanks all.

Anyways the cheat enabled was black sheep wall, so that I could see the whole map and put screenshots. I also wanted to see how the minimap looked.

Sessase: Heh, to me cheats are a very good way to test on single player. Make sure dialog and quests work is good for power overwhelming, makes you test faster by not fighting every monster.
I usually use black sheep wall for the stated above.
I also use cheats to test my anit-cheats cool1.gif

Now I'm going to start making towns and unit placement, after that all the triggers and numerous strings as I will make a random rumor system, which will allow you to go up to towns people and ask the for rumores, each rumor will be random.

Then I'll get started on dungeons and link them up using the load map trigger, which is the tricky part.

I'm going to have to make like 12 different versions of the world map in order to make quests stable.

Yes, it will be single player game since I couldn't fit all the towns and dungeons into one mep.
If you guys want, after I finish the single-player version, I may make a multiplayer one, although towns and dungeons will be smaller and there will be no world map, i think it can be done.

What's the point of loading other maps if you can't tranfer data between them? You can't tell if the player has even been to a certain area... the whole idea sounds terrible to me. It's possible in WC3 but not on StarCraft. Also, refer to my article on Counters, there is a link to "Trigger Design Philosophy". It has a section on "Linear Programming" using counters that makes testing much easier then using cheats to get through the map.

Yea, I plan on using counters after I read your post a couple of days ago.

Anyway, that wasn't even a test, only cheat i used was black sheep wall and that was to take a look at the terrain and see if it looked good.
