                          The Rebuilding of Eora

Review Notes:
First of all, I played this game when it was first finished. I can't believe it took this game this long to reach Staredit.net, in fact I can't believe I didn't upload it myself. Anyway I just wanted to say that, now on to the review.

                                               The Land of Eora:
Eora used to be a flourishing place filled with beauty, peace, and boundless possibilities. Then one day the evil legion known as the "Dark Bloods" came to Eora. A huge battle insued between the Eorans and the Bloods. Eventually the battle became so intense, that the higher archy species known as the Solarians were forced into the conflict. However even through this alliance, they were not enough to save Eora. It was now a useless wasteland...

Time passed and tale of a new land spread to all the races and factions of Eora...
A beautiful uncharted, unclaimed land had been discovered... They would call it:
"Eora 2". First the great alliance of the Eorans took flight to this new land, following the wartomians and the Solarians. None of these factions were currently aware of the presence of one another, and yet the danger grew even worse...
Somehow the word of Eora 2 had slipped to the ears of the Dark Bloods... and now they have also arrived on Eora 2.... Now in this new land, there is a destined battle for freedom, control, and peace... 3 Factions will fight and battle for control of this new land... the only question that remains... WHICH SIDE ARE YOU ON!

Gameplay:
In this game you play as one of 3 factions with a maximum of 6 players.
There are the Darkbloods; a brood and grotesque race of bloodthirsty monsters who simply wish to expand their empire, or destroy everything. They have menacing and powerful units, and can control the most units in the game, but they have no allies... in fact if they had allies it'd be game over from the start.

Then there is the Eoran Alliance; A group of 3 factions that wish to restore their land and bring down the DarkBloods in the process. They're very peaceful people and by far not the strongest, but they have 3 factions making them a deadly team force. They are used to life with the wildlife, so they're suited in living in mountains and forests as it is their natural habbitats.

Lastly, and most importantly! There are the Solarians; The Solarians are beings that worship the Sun God(or just the sun, I'm not 100% sure) and are the most intelligent beings in the world. They can create robotic soldiers and weapons, and their warriors are guided by the power of the Sun making them extremely powerful. They live in urban-like cities and sophisticated societys. Aparently they have a secret up their sleeve in this war... something that can enable them to transport an entire army anywhere at anytime... but we must be mistaken that sort of technology is impossible.

You start off the game playing as one of the factions under each alliance(ex: wartromians are apart of the solarian alliance). When the game begins you'll have to find a citysite, start buiilding a city and get things moving. Eventually you'll end up running into enemies and things will start pumping! You can upgrade the units you make and place regional defences, in fact the game play itself is so amazing I can't explain it all in this post, you'll have to play it to get the jist of it.

Terrain:
The terrain is tactically beautiful. Bases are totalled of 6 + 1 secret zone. The terrain also gives a lifelike feel of real land. Mountains are obviously mountains, caves are defenitely caves, and forests feel so forest-like. I loved the terrain and thought it gave a good sense of where you were in the world. The game contains many other places in the game to get your resources from, as well as some extra military units.

Command and Conquer:
The game utilizes a system of different types of farming(depending on which of the 3 factions you are part of). Through farming you gain natural resources for rebuilding your former cities and creating a vast expanding empire. The goal of the game is to eliminate all enemies and claim Eora 2 for yourself. As you increase your reservoir of different buildings and level of industry, new military units become available to you. You can also hire carpenters, peasants, workers etc. Your level of industry restricts how large your army can be, therefor as you grow as a nation your military powers grow as well. Each race has a cache of heroes that you get at the very beginning of the game. Some players only get 1 or 2, some get as many as 5. It takes strategy to conquer your enemies, your plan carefully.

Extras:
Oh boy, the game has a vast amount of extras. If pounding your enemies isn't enough, there just happens to be a eency teeny weeny amount of... SUPER POWERFUL BOSS ENEMIES hidden throughout Eora 2. From great worms to giant dragons, and cave beasts and minotaurs. I've found at least 4 extra challenges to take on, one of them being the grandaddy of em all. I don't wanna spoil it but there is 1 boss that requires you to beat 2 other bosses and mine your way through a cave. He is so powerful that he has never been beaten without the alliance of 3 or more races, fully developed. There are islands and caves with extra resources and good tactical advantages with them. All in all having extras in a strategical warfare game is amazing enough, I found it absolutely outstanding. On a less important note, I loved the sounds and theme.

The Final Scores:
Storyline: 9/10 - Absolutely beautiful, strategic warfare map that makes you engaged in the story almost as much as the gameplay, I loved learning as much as I can about this map.

Terrain: 8/10 - The terrain was 100% isom and beautifully aranged and placed, while all this is true I just wasn't given the feeling of a 10 on this one. Nontheless I absolutely adored the terrain.

Gameplay: 9/10 - Even for a strategic map the gameplay on this game was astounding. I was very much engaged in the game after it began and couldn't keep my hands offa it for at least 3 days(and I never play more than 2 days in arow!). Loved it, loved it, loved it.

Replayability: 8/10 - Got owned by some pro who plays the game all day and night but think you can beat him next time? Well try a different race since there are 6 of them you can always replay and try to attempt the extra bosses as well.

Extras: 7/10 - Though I loved the bosses and extra areas and music... There just wasnt enough extras to give this more than a 7/10 on extras. But truth be told I want to give it a 10.

Side Ratings:
Complexity: 7/10
Difficulty: 9/10
Special Effects: 1/10
Originality: 10/10

                                           Overall Rating
                                             8.5/10 cool1.gif

Story: 3/10 - Can you count those few lines of text a story?

Terrain: 6/10 - It was all isom! There was nothing special about it.

Gameplay - 8/10 - We can both agree on that. I like the gameplay very much. the only problem was finding people who actually knew how to play it well.

Replayabilty: 9/10 - You can always be a different race. You can always pick a different location to start yourself out at.

Extras: 5/10 - There were the occasional bonus guys you could get, and those bosses (I never figured out what they were for).

The map is good. I just think you're giving it too much credit.

I remember I helped beta test this with NovaReaper back in 2003 or 2004. At the time, some of the features were pretty innovative, like being able to manually choose your starting position, and the Solarian sun fortress thing especially. It isn't horribly unbalanced with heroes and stuff either, which is a plus considering all the LotR and LotR-influenced tripe that flies around these days. Indeed it is pretty lacking in the story department, but even then it gives you more than a lot of maps do.

The one thing I hate about it is the all-capitalized words that pervade some of the features and the briefing.

1)He wasn't talking yo you... smart guy
2)3/10 story? Make an rpg with a better story and I'll give you infinite amounts of minerals, the story was what the whole game was based on. The terrain was part of the story, where each team starts off tells which direction they came from, the different units tell a historical story. The whole game is just a story that you can mold, I'd give it 10/10 if it was more 1 player opinionated. Aparently you don't understand story, gg bubye.
3)Don't worry if we want to play with you we'll message you. Hope you don't expect one ermm.gif .

Edit: Wtf 6/10 on terrain? Amazing terrain with only the usage of isometrical should earn more than some extended bullcrap terrain. Since when is extended better? It's never been better, it's just different(lol extended pwns all = ROFLMFAO)

5/10 FOR EXTRAS.....
LOL before I even explain, I'm gonna point out this is a 2004 made map, meaning all the inventions he used in this were brand fooking new. That being said, all the extra bosses areas, caves, islands, and secrets were compl;etely never before seen ideas. Let's not forget this map was soo good pubbies were playin it. KIng kong aint got crap on it. Terrain I'll let u say was 6/10, but extras were straight undeniably 9-10/10. Not questionable.

i dont agree with anything in that review. except maybe the Gameplay. I'LL REVIEW IT MYSELF!

Story 8/10: its not every day when a Diplomacy/RPG map gets a story as detailed as this one, in fact. most rpgs in the current day have so Little story its sickning

Terrain 8.5/10: Very nice, detailed, and professional. thats all i can say.

Gameplay 9/10: yet again another good one >_>, plays like a diplomacy map. Except it doesnt get old cause you can choose different bases each time (unless your the Solar ppl)

Replayability 10/10: Play with random people, Gather 5 friends around and have a War. the game has endless possibilitys. and one of the best i've ever seen.

Extras 7/10: Many Extras, secret Bosses. especially that worm in the cave...took me forever to find out how to kill it =P

Overall: 9/10: One of the better maps on bnet, if only all maps we're like this one. But..then again..there'd be no Competition for me if they we're! tongue.gif

Very nice map. and i really dont understand why you gave it such horrible ratings Dumbducky, guess your name proves true.

OOOOO BURN! tongue.gif
