darn it, i actually saw something about this one time, try doing a forum search or go to starcraft.org. All i remeber is that you had to play an echo of a sound before actually playing the standard form of it - to make the reverberating sound.

Better yet, Corbo will simplify things for you and will post here solutions
because there's actually three.

1. Blizzard thought "our sounds are so damm cool that everybody will want them" so they provided a program that extracts the sounds and gets them into a folder named sounds in your sc folder.

Click here - For Sc sound utility (Requires 80 MB of available disk space)
Click Here - For Bw sound utility (Requires 100 MB of available disk space)

2. You can use a program called WinMPQ to open the StarDat.mpq or the BrooDat.Mpq which contain the sounds for sc and you can extract the desired sounds there, Note that if you see a lot of unknowns you need to implemente WinMPQ with a list for unknowns to see the name of the files
Click Here - For the required listfile

3. If all you want is play the sounds during games you can add the desired sound from your map editor (one like Starforge or ScmDraft) and it will not take map space since the sound is read directly from the mpq. (i guess)

You can actually mix those ones to create new ones, and anyways that wouldn't be map making then.

Yea but it still will be considered some part of map making, if you want custom sounds in your map XD

Well thanks but i already kinda knew that part...

I was just wondering about something like this. Yeah, I'm into sounds too, but 100mb isn't nearly enough space for sounds. I'll look into it too though, and I also need to find a way to make a sound sound like it's coming from a radio transmission and I also need that Ghost breathing sound.

By the way, I have exported all the SC sounds.

I'm currently looking for a way to make a Protoss sound too. If I can find a way, I'll clue you in.

There are a variety of sound editors out there, the only trick is to finding the best (free) one that is good. However, if you buy one it would usually contain enough options to make your own sounds.

1. Download and install Audacity
2. Record (with Microphone as the Input Source) some speech
3. Change pitch to some negative number that will alter your beyond recognition but still understandable
4. Reverse the recording
5. Add echo
6. Reverse recording again (thus produce a "backwards echo")
7. Export as .wav
