If you're going to rate terrain, post some reasons for a bad rating, so the newcomer can improve their terrain. This is not a popularity contest. I'm tired of seeing people throw out 1/10's and 2/10's without explaination, or even comments, just a low score. Don't give me any bull on this, if you can't think of what is wrong with a piece, why the hell are you rating it low? I know this doesn't apply to everyone, and I respect anyone with the decency to give suggestions, but just because you feel yourself a self-stylized "terrain wizard" doesn't mean you get to be an ass.

The main reason Wilhelm posted this, is for attention... That is more clear then the point he is trying to convey.

If you can't take the heat (even from people bashing your terrain & defending it yourself) then just don't post your terrain...

I have yet to see anything really good posted except for some very old stuff by Rantent and rare terrain from some other map makers... I purely grade on what I have seen.

Actually... if your post does just say... "Rate me." I think that you have the right to just leave a rating... If you were KIND enough to put suggestions or WHY you gave the rating, thats all goodie 2 shoes and kudos to that nice citizen of SEN...

I fully support everyones current rating system as well as to 'encourage' more people to type a little more then then usually do for the reasons relating to their posted rates!

smile.gif

A great example of someone who is good at taking some heat is A of S T... I have posted some mean comments in some of his threads cause of blockiness and whatnot... at least I don't get flammed to holy hell like if I said something in Wilhelm's thread and ticked a person off...

No, i believe Wilhelm is trying to fix some of the damage youve done to those just starting out WoodenFire. Maybe you dont notice it but you ARE a little harsh. [/Understatement]

How many topics on newb terrain have you replyed to?

How many of all those did you give above a 4? [/Sarcasm]

Dude you are very good with terrain ill admit, and although it doesnt make up for your attitude, alot of people think highly of what you say. Those people are purely retarded or havent been here long. closedeyes.gif

ok wood. examine your signature. hmmm i might have bad vision but is that a a link to a terrian i made? oddy enough you're awlays complaining about our need to explor other titleists. yet when i did it, i was beatten down by you harsh sons of b*******. now tell me somthin, when was the last time you posted a non-jungle terrian. yeah.... you got me stumped too.

now ill give you credit that you told me what was wrong with my terrian however, being the harshest judge is plain gay. you are the eldeged best terrianer the is. the reason most of us dont live up to your standaerds is cause most of us cant spend 12 hours a day working on a 5x5 peice of terrian.

im a nice person so i forgive you. but just dont be like this.

I don't give a damn about your credentials. Give me a reason why you're rating it so low. Wooden, you have an excessive sense of self-defense. What's odd about your post is your first is in support while the second is a direct attack on my character, seemingly because of one sentence in A_of_as_t's post. Take the "Rate my signature" thread for example, people post suggestions with almost all low scores, sometimes as simple as "lower the brightness". Just telling someone "it's blocky" is equivalent to rating someone's signature with "it's ugly", it's a wasted post. If you've had your fun trying to commandeer this topic in shameless self-promotion, I'd like this topic to be about people's conduct in the terrain forum, rather than be all about you. I am not talking about any one person, I'm talking about the behavior of several individuals at different times.

I didn't read like any posts after 3, but this is damn true. We all know who it was directed at, the "PROFESSIONAL TERRAIN MAKER" who makes up bullcrap reasons, like "You used a half ruins converter tile when you should have used a high middle ramp tile." or a bunch of his terrain jargon that he made up himself.

I don't think you need a reson to go 3/10. Some constructive criticism would be nice, but I don't think any one really has to give any. My only problem is with the people who come in here and go 1/10 its easy blah blah blah, but don't actually post their own terrain.

All I said was that Wilhem was INDERECTLY talking about WoodenFire, they are always fighting, so, I just pointed it out, how in hell did I step back? I never even said anything that might hurt either of them. I will say that EACH of them, Whilem and Wooden have their Unique style of terraining and they each feel that they are a great terrainer. But each of them, mostly Woodenfire (HA! 'DIRECT' "ATTACK" AGAINST HIM ) makes rude to malicious, but helpful comments about his terrain. It is an ego fight, no less. S.T.A.R.S., be the bigger man and step down. I never wanted to insult WOoden or Wilhem, mainly because ech make superb terrain. So there.

WoodenFire, if you feel th need to rate newb's terrain badly, then don;t rate it at all. How good were you when you first started? I wouldn't imagine your first piece was all that great. What if you posted it on SEN and got uberly owned by some apparent terrain master, without even a reason or suggestions? Most SEN members would react to the harsh rating in a negative way, deciding terrain wasn't their cup of tea. What if they actually could have become talented terrain artists? what have you dont to the future of terraining?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by WoodenFire on 2006-05-02 at 08:33:03
Who are you to tell me what to do? I will take your comment as a suggestion and nothing more.

If I was a newb, I would post my SHat terrain with the Title of... "How do I improove, Please Send Screenshot Alterations & Help..." and not "Rate My MasterPiece"

-.-
