I just want to do a simple introduction at the beginning at my map.

Display text So and so presents..

wait 2000 milliseconds

So and so presents.. so and so map.

But the second text message never appears and i'm just stuck sitting there. What's the problem? I even changed it to 1 millisecond and still nothing.

either use hyper triggers with 2000 milliseconds or use 750 milliseconds and make sure you check the players tat u want them to see.

is it in the same trigger? the two messages?

Yep, I tried using seperate triggers with switches as well.

What do you mean? :/

show us your EXACT triggers so we can better understand it

Make sure that you have the 'Always Display' box checked in the window where you type the text.

put a wait for 1400 milliseconds before the first text message. kk?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by ColdFusion on 2006-05-02 at 17:50:40
Nothing showed at all.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Toothfariy on 2006-05-02 at 17:53:08
who is in force 1?

why do you need hyper triggers anyway?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by ColdFusion on 2006-05-02 at 17:54:25
Dunno, someone told me to try it.

And Players 1-5 are in force 1.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Lord_RexJr on 2006-05-02 at 17:57:12
wow man.. ur thinking wayy too hard into 1 text message.. i would like to see ur rest of the map ;-)

Have you tried what I told you to do? SCM Draft is notorious for unchecking the box automatically.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Toothfariy on 2006-05-02 at 17:59:36
well always display is just incase they dont have display on.

try to see what happens if you take out the hyper trigs

and what does switch 'start' do?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Urmom(U) on 2006-05-02 at 18:02:35
Without Always Display on, the text will be displayed only if the user has subtitles on, which most people don't. It's a fairly common mistake to forget to check the box.

Also, I jsut noticed that you said when you put a 1400 milisecond wait before the display, it didn't display. It appears that you are having wait blocks. Try using deathcounts to replace waits in triggers that you loop.

dont do hyper triggers in the all players box! lolz ;-)

This EXACT same problem happened to me, you using SF, because i think it might be a glitch in SF, except that i only could see the text, but nobody else....
Report, edit, etc...Posted by ColdFusion on 2006-05-02 at 18:48:56
Woops. All I had to do was switch the hyper trigs to a computer, aha.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Toothfariy on 2006-05-02 at 18:57:33
wow.... that simple. lol

but joker2kill, how did you fix the problem?

He would of had to give it to all the players who he wants the text to display for and ensure that they all actually fire. Any experianced mapmaker should fully understand the concepts talked about in this thread.
