Staredit Network -> Terrain -> New terrain idea
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Jello-Jigglers on 2006-05-03 at 19:06:58
This is just a rough sketch of what i think would be way cool to use in maps. Something like this;

*Picture moved to other topic*

I'm not sure that i can do any better unless i want to spend more than 30 minutes like i did on this one. You try and post up what you came up with... Please DONT rate this...

Things This picture could use;

less blockiness on the stairs
There is a slight line on part of the water that could be fixed
Usage of less sprites(so in other words- better blending)

Not sure so far if i am going to re-blend some of the major blocky parts, but i might if i feel like it.

Let me see some of what you got you 'eleged professional terrainers'. tongue.gif

ADDITION:
One last thing... Has this been done before, because the only reason i want to see better blends is so that it is good for others to use in thier maps, but if its been done(and good) then there isn't much need for this other than to show me/others what you got in terraining.

Ill take a crack at this...

This is able to be blended perfectly... even the temple stairs can be blended much better... but the dimensions would not be how you see them here. This is too abstract and un-obtainable of a fantasy.

So many sprites.

if you have to ability to blend then do it cause you will hit the sprite limit lol

Yeah... Here, i'll post the version without sprites. Try not to look to long though, it might burn your corneas.

im already blind in one eye tongue.gif

i was just saying use the least sprites possible

Some of the sprites weren't needed, i just thought it made it look cooler tongue.gif . Here it is...

Not very pretty, but useful if you have high dirt and you want to go to low dirt through ways of a bridge. Common... let me see some of your guys's work!

you could take a lot of that blockyness in the middle out by making the whole thing thinner
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Jello-Jigglers on 2006-05-03 at 23:27:32
With just a few sprites and a hand-rail, it doesn't look so bad... I think if i made the staircase the actual size as the origional, and modified the bridge, it would be easier to blend.

here is the version with like 30 sprites(more or less) Not all of these are needed(including the hand-rail sprites).

Addition:

Wow you check this often... In like five minutes you ansered my first post. You and me kinda have the same idea going about thining out the stairs to origional size and making the bridge do most of the blending.

yeah... i board right now. me and my broken wrist, sad.gif i cant do anything cept post on sen

on the bottom side of the whole thing, you can use edge bridge blends going from bridge to caves

ADDITION:
Well, looks like no ones going to post for a while, so i guess i close it... If you want me to open this topic, just pm the pic(jpeg please for size) and ill post it for you.
