I am currently coding the FAQs script for v5, and I'm deciding how everything should be organized. There will be categories with FAQs under them.
The goal of coding FAQs as a section rather than having a forum is already implemented. ( http://www.staredit.net/1337v5/?p=faq ) The other goal is to rewrite policies to patch up holes that are there now, and in some cases, to spell out policy where there is now.

This is my basic structure, feel free to add, remove, switch around, and question. Things like ("this") refer to titles of existing FAQs.

Don't forget TDB tongue.gif

Wait, for SENv5 are you going to add a feature called "Reviews DataBase" where people can upload map reviews? It would be really cool.

If so, can you make me the keeper of that area? biggrin.gif

Is there really this much indifference from our staff in writing SEN's rules and policies? eek.gif

You can see what's done so far here.

As for Reviews Database, I dunno. That's not what this topic is about. tongue.gif
As for the TDB, it might be self-explanitory. DLDB gets one because there's issues involve such as what's approved, what's not, that sort of thing. Such discrepancies may not exist for both sections.

It looks pretty thorough to me. Maybe you could lift some ideas from here for the rules and regulations.

Incorporation of the "Contest Moderation" and "About Flaming" threads.

Also try to put as much information of SeNv4 FAQ into the new FAQ. Make it a new section and not a forum.

Thank you sir, there's a lot to incorporate from there. smile.gif

BeeR, you need to visit the link in my other post. It is already coded as a seperate section in v5.

I think if anyone goes to this page they'll feel overwhelmed with information.

How about having each header as a link (or a collapsable table thing). Then we can just show headers to start with and they can go from there.

That would be a good idea.

How about you have a dedicated FAQ page which is easily navigable for new users and annoying people?

It would have a massive header of 'FAQs' and under that a list of clear links to various FAQs, the most important ones being at the top and with a larger char size. Actually, in between the links and the header you might want to put a few golden rules which people can see at a glance without having to navigate away from the page.

Ok, so once somebody goes to a link then it would open the page with that FAQ, which might itself be split into sections which the user can go to by clicking on a link, which would point to an anchor on the page. Each FAQ page would also have a short summary in bullet-point form at the top so that lazy readers can see things easily.

I could draw up a layout if you like, but it wouldn't be in SEN style - it would have to be adapted.

Okay, the next person to suggest a dedicate page or section gets a lead bullet to the head. The FAQ page is already coded in v5 as a seperate section!

Guys, check out the FAQ page on the link I'm already giving you.

CaptainWill, feel free to make diagrams and whatever to illustrate what you mean. If it allows me to understand you better, by all means do it. smile.gif

In that case - what you've got is already good enough.

More onto the content policy; for images it is best summed: "If the content of the image is clearly for the purpose of arousal, it is not allowed, regardless of any arguable content or lack thereof."

QUOTE
a·rouse  Audio pronunciation of "arousal" ( P )  Pronunciation Key  (-rouz)
v. a·roused, a·rous·ing, a·rous·es
v. tr.

  1. To awaken from or as if from sleep.
  2. To stir up; excite: The odd sight aroused our curiosity. See Synonyms at provoke.
  3. To stimulate sexual desire in.

v. intr.

    To be or become aroused.
Probably should be a bit more specific and just say sexual arousal? I think we should be specific because members always try to find "loopholes" or female dog about unspecific rules.

That works. Don't want people "female dogging" do you? tongue.gif
