http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/americas/4924810.stmThirty five percent... that's pretty much two thirds of the country who are utterly sick of this administration.
Doesn't bode well for the 2008 Republican candidate. They're stuck between a rock and a hard place. They can support Bush now and get the support of the core Republican Party members that decide who gets to stand, but lose the country. Or they can distance themselves from Bush, appeal to the country, but be rejected by party members, so never get to stand.
Democrat victory in 2008, anyone?
EDIT: at the height of Watergate, Nixon's approval rating was 39%...
http://www.nytimes.com/imagepages/2005/08/...rt.1.ready.html There are many different polls. Many polls are specifically worded in a way that guides you in a direction you might not want to be.
Like one question would be that you checked:
I support the President, but disagree with some of his policies.
So your vote would go to you disagreeing with his policies.
Now I read that above statement in a book we had to read in class. I forget the name but it was an interesting read.
it must be bad on self esteem thinking 65% of america hates you ....eh, lolol
When bad things happen under a president's term, whether it be serious or minor (or even ridiculous,) his approval rating will always have a very low point. Like with Clinton back a while ago. Because of his monica lowinsky scandal, many people hated Clinton and was like "OMFG he's such a bad president." Even when Bush beat Gore in 2000, people were like "Dude, Bush isn't good. But hey, at least he beats Clinton!"
And also, LBJ, with the Vietnam War. He escalated the Vietnam War and he was so hated back then. Everybody was like "OMFG you are the worst president ever." Now, in the present, when you come to think of it, he's not too bad. Back then you probably would've, but now, not really. As of right now, I think the same thing will happen with Bush (assuming that things don't get any worse right now.)
Inshort, everybody almost always think bad of their current presidents when bad things happen. Sometimes many times people always find the most ridiculous things to even hate a president for. Like Nixon, he was a great president. One of the best diplomatic presidents ever. But only because of the watergate scandal were people like "OMFG YOU SUCK!" And then there's also the following president, Ford, the accidental president. He was also a great president (I forgot what for.) But when he pardoned Nixon, people hated him instantly. Ridiculous.
I'd be happy if 65% of Americans knew me.
But honestly, this is where our system of government fails, if it doesn't actually hurt us we can't do anything about it, even if we could replace it with something better.
the president allways has this job - even if a earthquake will destroy NewYork & Bush will do his best to save the people, everybody will hate him even more, allthow he is not the one to blame. any president allways carry this hatered on his back.

Great president, yet he killed off good men in Vietnam? Wow MA... Wow...
It was Johnson (and perhaps Kennedy and others before) that was killing good men in Vietnam. As soon as Nixon became president, he went directly to China And Russia and talked with their leaders and then pulled the US troops out. He was great because the ended the Vietnam war with dignity. He's good at diplomacy

Um, Nixon had a secret Cambodian bombing campaign going, and the Chinese and Russians were played against each either to lessen their joint support of the north Vietnamese.
The only thing wrong about that was that it was an unorthodox use of executive powers when ordering these bombings. It was considered as an article of impeachment later on, but the charge was dropped as not a violation of Constitutional powers. Something like that wouldn't overshadow his way of ending the Vietnam War.
Had there not been a Nixon, the Vietnam war would still be going on for another several years, and thus, the agonizing anger of the protestors in America would've heighten to unimaginable extremes.
If I remember right, a documentary on the Vietnam War, stated that he was going to stay in until it was won. But that he was talked out of it because of the protestors.
Yea, initially, he, like the other presidents before him, wanted to fight the war till the end. Early in his first year, he ordered those bombings, but those proved to be unpopular. So a few months later, he proposed the
Nixon Doctrine, which I believe means that the fighting will be turned over to the Vietnamese and will have less US involvement. Meanwhile, Nixon went over to China and Russia and used his diplomatic skills to it's fullest. Eventually, all the troops were pulled out in 1973? I think.

Clinton was impeached for making Love and the fact that Republicans thought it changed the way he led the country... What a bunch of BS.
Id rather have a President of Love then War.
LBJ was dropped a horrable victory with bad timing but as he was led into believeing that the war in Vietnam could be Won... LBJ passed so many F'ing proposals to congress from his crazy mad SKiLLz.
(If anyone think this post is invalid because of my jokin around, go research it for a couple days and see the real deal baby.)
