"The Final Defense"
(not the greatest title, and I hope I'll give it a better title...)

A map where players scramble to keep a decent defense against an onslaught of crazed creatures. Each player is given a hero, and each player's experience is different from another player's. Dialogue from the hero will occur at points during the game, with different heroes depicting the story differently.

Progress UPDATE
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

-Terrain
[progress]80[/progress]
About 80% finished. The house just needs a few more touch-ups, and I need to get a bit of terrain fixation in other places too.

I'm working on player control interface, I've got a screenshot further down the post.

-Unit placement
[progress]80[/progress]
About 80. Part of the army base needs a bit of men, as well as the centre of the virus's teritory.

-Triggers
[progress]0[/progress]
Yep. 0% done. Well, I do have locations up and everything, so add about 5% if you want.

Storyline / Introduction
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Allow me to link you to my topic in "ideas". That gives alot about the Story's background, though it’s not complete. I'll get a better, revised version of my story here, when I feel like working on it.

Features UPDATED
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Each player is given a specific area or two that they have fortified. not all is fortified however, and there are many weapons to be procured to set up a decent defense. a neutral computer, will have units across these areas. Units may need civilians to be utilized by the player who sends the civilians to the weapon. some bunkers, siege tanks, ground and wall weapons, and others will be usable.

Each player is going experience the game in a different fashion. Each hero will have a different take on the story, and you'll see their personality as you defend your area and acquire kills. I hope to have a good enough story to give this game an RPG element to it.

The player will be kept occupied by holding their positions, and by getting civilians armed and back onto the front line. Each area will have a limited number of weapons, so players will be forced to conserve men, or risk losing their positions. There will be key structures (ammo dumps) which will determine how long the area may last. If the ammo dump is taken out, your men will be forced to retreat to safer ground, where they take up positions.

The game will be filled with dialogue, coming from the hero, or from the newly armed civilian. The comments they say will be different, and I want alot of detail put into what the player sees and reads.

Play will go for about 30 minutes, the amount of time the players will need to survive for before they finally get brought to safety by the army. But it gets crazier from there. Enemy air units are throw into the fray, and players must keep the base safe as long as it take until they finally have a sizable attack force to destroy the zerg base. I intend to keep it very hectic making people repair a lot as well as other things.

Some of the map’s unique features are:

- Combined qualities of storyline, and defense.

- 3 Main endings with many sub-endings.

- On-going conversation and dialogue. Coming from not only the units, but heroes as well.

-Not able to be ruined by leavers! Triggers will be added for a player to give all his units to his teammates if he/she needs to leave.

- 4 players, 4 heroes, 4 stories. Each player experiences the game in a completely different way. Until it comes to a group storyline session, each player will only be reading his/her hero and units converse. When the group is involved, triggers will account for heroes who are dead, or players who have left.

-Medical system. Boring old “bring player to beacon, set life to 100%” won’t be the factor here. You want to heal your hero? It’ll take time. Bringing your hero to the medical room gives you an injury, and you must figure a way to heal that injury for the time being. Injuries will be random, and with each injury healed, life will be recovered. Also, when the medic is applying the medical item to the wound, it will take up a bit of time.

- Time's up, and your teamates need to get to the army base. How? Bus.

Not too simple, You need to pack as many people in as possible, because they'll be coming after your bus. In the bus, you need to survive for 4-5 minutes, and because it's so cramped, You'll have a hard time getting an organized defense upon the bus.

Details UPDATED
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Characters:

Micheal Stravich:

The man who has brought down this terrible event has taken his family and friends and huddled them within a house.

A rather muscular man, given his job having to capture animals, Micheal gets very...passionate about his work. While doing sometihng he'll get himself more adrenaline than he needs to, and he may go berzerk. Many a co-worker has gotten upon his bad side, and has seen first hand what Micheal can do.

Though sounding like a brute, Micheal's emotional, and cares deeply for his friends and family. He was considering suicide, he wouldn't have to bear the world's hatred if he somehow survived.

And when he must protect the human race, Micheal will get right in there. His rage and anger is projected through the heat of his flamethrower. He'll protect those whom he loves, he refuses to turn tail and run.

Lisa Stravich:

An intelligent and attractive woman, Lisa met Micheal in a bar. She was being harrassed, and Micheal stepped in. Seeing Micheal's devotion and just mind, she soon began dating him, and eventually, they married.

Lisa was horrified by what happened and seeing Micheal's irresposible actions, she remains confused on what to do. She was angry at Micheal, and cursed him, and began to tell him he should be the first to die.

Should she run? That's what her head told her. But her heart told her that people needed her, her strong will and good heart couldn't be denied.

Before she could make amends with Micheal, they were warned of incoming creatures, so she took her post.

A lesser woman, would be crushed with the burden of risking her life for others. But Lisa refused to run, if she would die, she would die at her husband's side.

Ashton Stravich:

Ashton is the eldest of the two Stravich boys. At 21 years of age, he left the small town of Oringdale for the big city.

Ashton's always been an aggresive guy. He likes to say he inherited it from his father, but it's gotten him into trouble mnay times.

Ashton was thrown out of his first high school for a confrontation. He needed to let off some steam, so he began to go to the gym, play football and wrestle.

Soon after, he moved out, and moved into a big city. Next summer after alot of work on the rigs, he could finally pay his college fund, go to school, and secure a future.

But then, while visiting Oringdale, Ashton is thrown into the fray.

The news of the attack arrive, and Ashton will defend Oringdale for a single purpose.

Lianna. He won't let anything happen to her, he loves her too much. She didn't have enough time to get out of the town, and so she needs to hold tight. Ashton gurantees her, if they ever can, they'll get out on an aircraft.

"**** dad. He's endangered the human race. He can die for all I care."

Steve Stravich:

The younger of the two Stravich boys, Steve's calm, cool, and collected. Despite these traits, he isn't as smart as he probably should be. He's 16, and was still living with his parents before the incident.

Steve doesn't understad the situation. He refuses to believe that humans can be destroyed by some animals.

Steve owns a Harley Davidson bike. It's a real piece of work. He isn't strong enough to arm himself with a machine gun or anything, so he mounted a grenade launcher on his bike. He thinks he's unbeatable.

So he's staying and defending his parents, he feels he owes them alot.

But his parents haven't been as honest as they should have been about the situation.

What Steve's about to experience will be real beyond any horror film he's ever seen.

-Weapons
Common weapons are Ghost Firebat, and Marine. Bunkers, tanks, floor/wall traps, and others must be operated by civilians.

-Spells
Players aren’t given much else than Stim packs (for heroes).

There's no actual spell casting or anything.

Ok, from bottom left, to top left and middle, to topr right, to bottom right, here is a description.

Bottom left:
This's the Civilian panel. you move your DT to any of these power-ups (named after locations in and around the house).

When civilians spawn, they will be warped to the location your DT is at. There are spots missing, these spots are for locations which will be revealed later on.

Top left/middle:
This's the "I'm Leaving" panel. If something comes up, and you must leave, you should bring your DT to the I'm Leaving beacon. Next, you must move it to the beacon of the player you want to get your units. The second red beacon will be multicolored. Wtih that, you may evenly distribute to all the players.

Top right:

Civilians spawn here, from a timer and from kills. From here, they are brought to whichever lpace you want them to go, via civilian panel.

Bottom Right: this was to be considered as objectives, tips, and other things for the player.

It may be removed, or it may not.

Guys, I want to make this map a hit. I’m going to be taking a lot of time doing this, and I honestly need people’s help, preferably those with map experience.

This map’s going to take me ridiculous amounts of time, and I have no idea when I’ll complete it, but I hope this’ll put me on the map as a good map maker.

Watch here for updates, post any questions or ideas (I’d love to here them! ) and wish me luck!

Good luck with it. Add something that other defense games dont have, so it stands out.

Not to offend you, but the features I have planned for this map should certainly make it stand out.

Did you read all of it? If you did, I think you would have noticed that.
