Staredit Network -> UMS Assistance -> lag in map?

Alright, as my map gets a high amount of units in it, it starts lagging, and lags very badly eventually... Now, I know lots of units cause lag, but it seems like theres something more to it...

can a large amount of triggers that have conditions based on checking units possibly cause lag (especially with hypertriggers)? What else could potentially cause a map to really slow down?

Also, if anyone's crazy enough to check out my map and look for possible things, awsome biggrin.gif, but i'm not expecting anything heh...

well lets say if you have a spawn trigger, with hypers. If you don't have a stop spawn trigger something ugly like

ERROR : UNIT BLAH BLAH BLAH CANNOT BE PLACED ( CORDINATES HERE )

and if it keeps doing that then yes it will cause lag, another reason why blizzard made a 200 unit limit so that all 8 players can play a nice enjoyable game.

All triggers require the game to make some calculations, some more than others. Actions tend to be on the high-end. (Creating//killing/moving/ordering units in mass will easly create lag on any machine)
The more triggers your map has, the more checks and actions the game will need to perform. If you have too many, your computer may not be able to keep up, so the game will slow down and wait for it, aka lag. So, yes, triggers make a degree of lag.

The more stuff you have in your map, the more laggier it gets... duh. I think hyper triggers smooth out the lag and sets it in order but I don't know really.

Try what the guy did in this topic. It will probably redude the lag. Other then that, go through all your triggers again and see if you can't delete some trigger by using more 'smarter' triggers.
