What does this mean? How can I fix it?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Noober on 2006-05-13 at 15:53:59
Is there enough free space on your computer to do whatever it is you're doing?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by HolySin on 2006-05-13 at 16:28:20
71.3 GB of Free Space.

Random Access Memory (RAM) and Hard Disk Space are not the same thing. This error sounds like you are running out of RAM. How much RAM is free while running Starcraft? This can viewed by opening the Task Manager, going to Preformance, and looking under Physical memory (K). It will have a total (your total RAM in KB), and an available (your total free RAM in KB). Run Starcraft, and what are these values?

For example, running nothing but Firefox, my Task Manager says:

Total: 2096624
Availabke: 1421712

It's probably talking about RAM, not disk space. Make sure you're not running any other programs. Is this a recent problem, or has it always happened?

97276 Available

Is this with or without Starcraft running?

That is with starcraft running.

When something messed up once with my SC(similar bug with an error window) I just re-installed it and it was fine.

I think it would be weird if there wasn't enouth RAM to do whatever he was doing with the editor but there was still enouth to take a screen shot just fine.

the filename, sai_ContoursCreate, sounds like it has to do something with AI (just a guess here). The memory allocation for that would be much more than simply taking a screenshot. Only 97 MB free isn't much.

I allso had something like this 1-2 times. I think my RAM is OK.

This is what I did:
-Made a new map in Starforge (256x256).
-Opened four other maps in (128x128).
-Copied the terrain from all of them and saved each custom tile (four 128x128).
-Pasted each of them on the large map so that there was no null showing.
-Added in triggering.
-Started Starcraft.
-Created game and started.
-Screen turns black.
-Minimized.
-Error message pops up.

If I were you I wouldn't have 5 maps open in SF when trying to play SC =P. I bet that's the problem.

Sorry, forgot to add:
-Closed starforge.

First off, i agree with Battlecruiser; it's a RAM error. If you have space though, I don't know why it would be a problem...

Second, it could just be something messed up w/SF. No offense Heimdal, but SF really isn't reliable. It's corrupted a few of my maps, and done some other nasty things like unplacable-crashes. SCMDraft is MUCH more reliable. DL that if you want, try making the same map, and see what it does.

Maybe SF doesn't want to unallocate the RAM.

There's no way that SF could retain RAM after you close it. It's basic OS principles.

Not if it really wants to.

(Not closing properly)

Uh, no. The operating system frees all the memory associated with a process when it terminates.

Processes don't always teminate when you think they do.

Just as a test, I opened starforge then closed it. I then opened my task manager and went to processes. What's this? Starforge was still running? I did end task, but I'll test the map when I can.

Doesn't happen for me. Did you wait a second or two before opening the task manager? Did you have a map open in SF?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by HolySin on 2006-05-19 at 00:10:06
I chose a map when I opened, and I waiting about five seconds before opening task manager.

Believe me Heim, processes love to stick around.
