Report, edit, etc...Posted by BLISSARD[VdD] on 2006-05-16 at 20:34:49
About one week ago, while i was playing starcraft the cd got crushed up into pieces inside the drive...
I have the cd key and the game already installed. I really want to play it. Can somebody please help me?
I heard you can play it without the CD, by copying the starcraft.exe thing or something and replace it with the one in your computer... If you knowabout that then please help me I would be most graceful!!! helpsmilie.gif

Are you using Windows?

If so, here is a compressed ISO that I made. It comes with Daemon tools. Install it, and mount BROODWAR.iso.

If you can't get the file to work you could always rebuy Starcraft. It is only $10 for a great game. biggrin.gif

I didn't download the file, but basically, you need to install Daemon-Tools, and mount the image file to a virtual drive.

You don't need a crack in order to play SC, though.

And 3.84 MB is pretty damn small, what's up with that ;P

No campaign wavs, or maps.
Installation-related files also removed.

I also highly doubt that your CD got shreded to pieces all by itself on the CD drive. In all my 8 years of playing Starcraft, and about 10 years playing games, not 1 of my CD's have gotten broken, and I used to play all day long non-stop back in the day. Chances are that you accidentally kicked your desktop causing it to move at an agnle, making the CD move much more due to the momentum and it touched the edge of the inner CD drive.

This method which you have posted is illegal after reading Blizzard's TOA. Blizzard does allow though, to make a carbon-copy of your original CD in case anything happens. You are entitled to (1) CD-copy only to be used by yourself.

A compressed install.exe is not a carbon copy of the CD. It's not illegal, but according to your ignorance, I guess it is.

You will find soon that several legit Starcraft websites will support me.

By the way I downloaded Daemon Tools also, but dont know how to use or to do after that.

You said that there was a tutorials step by step for this? I looked through but couldn't find it can you please post the site?

Umm... I know the unzip part, but how do you un rar it...
can you please explain everything
Do I un rar it with a special program?

Because these forums disallow the upload of a rar file, I lazied out and zipped it. Rar is very similar to Zip. You extract it the same way.

My friends computer did that before and I was there when he did it nobody touched it it just exploded in the drive

There must be something seriously wrong with your PC if a disc explodes in it's hard drive.

My best bet is to buy a new CD and a new tower. If you don't have $10.00 to buy a new CD then you can try and make a deal with Blizzard wink.gif

Nevermind. If you can't figure this out, then you'll never figure out how to use the file.

Download WinRar, and you should be able to extract the Rar file. Then, run the Daemon Tools 3.47 setup, install, restart, set virtual devices to 1, mount the BROODWAR.ISO file, and you should be able to run SC.

It worked for me.

But it seems like you're still going to be confused.

Yeah.. thats the point.
If you never explain things to somebody and explain everything clearly then
the person wont understand. For example in the school the teacher never say "never mind if you dont understand it then forget it" to the student lol...

If the person dont understand, it does not mean that the person "mustnt/shouldnt" ask somebody and be teach to how to do it.

Please show me. If you dont tell me then I will never know then...
P L E A S E if you would like to lol
I am buying a battle chest this weekend anyway biggrin.gif
Hey this friday 5/19/06 I am going to have a track meet!!

I cant wait untill tomorrow.
Hey thnx for helping

ADDITION:
If you help me then maybe I dont have to spend $20.00 once again...

Wow...

Don't even think of buying it again... it's a waste of money (unless you want 2 cd keys). Just get a crack at www.google.com.

If I was to get the file you guys are all talking about, i'm sure I can write you a small tutorial for you to send to your PM inbox. Since BeeR edited his post to remove the download wink.gif

I've told you what to do, Blizzard, like 3 times already.

And Noober, SC doesn't need a crack, it needs an image file. That's all this is, except it doesn't have all the extra stuff, like the campaigns etc.

Also, when you start SC, it'll say it can't find the CD, just keep clicking continue =\
