No it isnt. The bottom two tiles were taken from the top and placed there becausei thought it looked better. I also edited the placing of the top tiles making a diffrent blend. If you had read what i had said in the first place Lyon you wouldnt be saying this and i wouldnt have to repeat myself.

Mirrored doodads. Changing 2 tiles doesn't change the fact that 'At least two tiles are mirrored' in the places...

0/10

Extended terrain isn't about this type of work... stop posting mirrors like this...

eh, wood is kinda right on this one. it's hard to screw up mirrored doodads. if you mixed it all up then it would be extended. sorry to say but thats pretty basic stuff 2/10

The only mirrors I would be impressed with would be the temple, the crashed ship or the white statue.

Is that ramp walkable? And maybe not the whole thing is mirrored, just 80%.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Jello-Jigglers on 2006-05-19 at 21:32:59
You're probably too imbarrassed to look in this forum anymore, but just to let you know, this is exactly the terrain that is considered mirroring... So you moved around some tiles... SO WHAT. More than 90% of these pieces are taken directly from the tileset index in the same order...

QUOTE
These took me awhile to blend...

Idk how long it takes to copy one half of one doodad, and the oppisite half of another...

QUOTE
...please be curtious if possible.

The only thing I have positive to say is that you are one step ahead of the people that can't find the tileset index.

Try this; look at work from other people(noobs), and see if you can replicate and/or improve their work. Also, looking at professional work(ie. WoodenFire, Wilhelm, Rantent and others) helps to get ideas going and helps you know previously discovered blends.

One last thing then i'm done... Focus on the 'usablility' factor... Notice how(only one example) WoodenFire concentrates on ramps/staircases/bridges? There is no reason for extended terrain to sit there and look good. Multi-layered staircases or ramps can be used and interacted with in-game. Extended bridges can be used as cosways or other things. Walkability is a MAJOR plus in a piece of terrain. Who cares if a bridge looks good if it cannot be used to walk across. Remember this question, and i think you can improve alot: "Will people want to use this in maps, and will the players be able to interact with it somehow?"

Sorry to be so blunt, and good luck with your next screenshots.

I find that QUITE insulting and i ask you refrain from it. I am not imbarassed nor am i a n00b to terrain or anything of that sort, to me these look positive and with lack OF CURRENTLY FINISHED MAPS contaning extended terrain id say ive got the market beat. That is untill wooden, wilhelm or some one who has 2 points of skill decides to finish a map.

Im not intrested in previously discovered blends. Im intrested in what i can forge by my own hand and what looks good to me.

I focus on cosmetics exclusively. Id rather have a non wakable piece of terrain that i can stick in an RPG to make a sick looking structure/or something or other that doesnt NEED to be walked apoun.

Walkability is obviously not a concern of mine unless i need it to be. My belief in extended terrain is that it is there to WOW the player. It may all look fine and dandy to people who understand how hard it was to find some blend but someone playing the map wont appreciate it unless it LOOKS good.

So we disagree quite a bit.

Positive: Well, you spelled wtf right. And you learned a lesson: If it takes a while to make crap, it will take alot of time to make some good crap.

1) These fail to wow me in any way other than, Wow, what a hack.
2) Walkability isn't important in any doodads. Doodads SHOULDN'T be walkable, nor should cliffs. Tese are mirrored cliff doodads, and therefore your point doesn't matter.
3) This is not a blend, nor is it hard to find. Nor does it look good.
4) Everyone disagrees with you quite a bit.

Personally I feel you are all wasting time argueing over opinions. I think its fun to eat radish soup, while you think it is sick. If if the majority of people agree with you it does not make either of us right.

What happened to the good ole' days of hey its nice but its been done so try something else. Instead you are all worried about kissing butt and dissing everyone you can. I could make terrain that looks like crap like in my terrain map in the expermental map area. The house in it looks ugly as sin but in a game that interior is wonderful and makes it feel like a real house. Will terrain here make us famous? No it will never make us famous; unless you consider being hailed a god by Starcraft Nerds being famous. I say anyone who tries deserves a pat on the back and a friendly try again. Sure at home say, "OMFG that terrain is trash." That is your choice but when you are here, play politics and be friendly. As in business you are taught. Never burn a bridge because you never know when you may need to cross it again some day.

Bringer... I love you. Lol. This should be pinned on the news bulletin board or something. That was amazing. EVERYONE read that and if you disagree with him... then maybe you shouldn't be apart of this community. I applaude you Bringer, I applaude you.

PS: Ewwww Radish soup!? lol

PSS: Nice try, but my opinion is it just looks mirrored, mirrored, and mirrored some more. Keep trying!

i ahve to say, this is one hundred percent doodad mirroring.

it contains a portion of a doodad and one half is the exact mirror of the other half.

thats the definition of a doodad mirroring.

Even my first "extended terrain" have more of a creative spark than this. I mirrored doodads once our twice, but it was in a manner that you could not really recognize the tiles being used. This is extremely obvious mirroring. When people point out flaws in your terrain, it's best not to go on an all out offensive against them for stating a simple fact: it's easy to do this stuff.
