There is a game "The Thing". I want to cut off the menu soundtrack. I've looked in the sounds directory - I found only dialogs & phrses of characters.

Should all music be in that directory & I'm searching bad ?

Is there a way to extract it if it is not in the sounds directory ?

Just extract all of the sounds in its directory

then they wont show up in the game, it is a starcraft game right?

You can always use a program that records streaming audio. Start record, maximize, let it play, minimize, stop record, and go into cooledit or another audio file editor to crop off the start and beginning before and after the music plays/loops.

Either that or try to find a download of it, but I think recording it will be able to allow you to achieve exactly what you want much more easily.

Guys, It's not an SC map/mod. It's a shooter type game.

Aha, great idea, tritfrat, thanks a lot smile.gif

I use Sound Recorder. Just set your audio settings to make your microphone your speakers. Hit "Record" and wait for it to hit 60 seconds. Copy that sound and Insert until it is the length you want. Set the cursor to the beginning and hit "Record". Go into the game and let it play the parts you want. Exit and go back to Sound Recorder. Cut out the empty pieces and pieces you don't want.

I just like doing the complicated way for things. tongue.gif (MSPaint, Sound Recorder, other things that come with Windows.)
