i have been trying to fix my map and stuff and i used starforge and the original editor as it is less complicated but i just finished modifying a few triggers(not sure which one) and i get a error saying:

Could not Open 'C:\Games\Starcraft\maps\4wayTurretdefH.scx' for writing.

Any Ideas What It Could Be

It Saves though but i not sure if it could damage the map/file itself or if that will restrict people to downloading the map when i finish and realese it.

LOL I had the EXACT same problem. You should've looked for it dry.gif. Oh well, no harm done. The main problem is that you are probably using both Starforge AND xtra editor in your map. I JUST fixed this problem now, by opening it with starforge, then closin it and going back to editor. If you go to starforge again, the same problem will happen, so you will have to reopen and close. Lol, if u aren't using SF tell me it could be something else (i.e music)

How to avoid that error:

Don't save a map while playing it.
Don't save a map while it is open in another editor.

That's it. The rest should be fine.

Simply a bug. This is sometimes what happens when you switch from starrforge to your other editor. It says it can't save, but trust me, it does save. To stop that message though, open starforge and open your map and just click save. Then return to your other editor and the pop-up won't occur, and you'll realize that the work you did that "couldn't be saved" will be.

directions:

1) it says cannot be opened for writing. (your map is saved still for some reason)
2) close the editor
3) open starforge and load your map.
4) just save the map and close starforge.
5) open your other editor and load your map.
6) saving should be fixed and you don't lose any information

Sorry, I don't know how to fix this, but it's not a big deal, because the work you did will not be lost, even though it claims the map "cannot be opened for writing".

It does not damage the map.

ADDITION:
Also! I almost forgot.

Another problem with starforge is that after you use it, the music/sounds you had on your map will be deleted and you will have to insert them into the sounds area again

I think at one time everyone has just about every error someone else has, its just going to happen. I had this happen to me once before I was on this site, not fun trying to figure all that crap out myself. This was sometime last year this hapened to me!
