Staredit Network -> Terrain -> Wilhelm vs Wooden (or anyone else who's a SP"God")

My inspiration? As much as I know you were messing around Wooden, this was my lightbulb switch. Click

~Wilhelm & WoodenFire~ This battle of words and wit is something I witness all the time on B.net, where anything goes. However to see it all logged and pre-thought. OMG that would be priceless. Lets see who really is, The Master. I would encourage both parties, (or anyone else who feels like interjecting)<--Don't be stupid, your feelings will be hurt. To bring to the table: Screenshots, downloads, and knowledge of the field. If either of you feel like giving credit to outside sources, feel free-- however, that may be -x to your egos. Lets be serious about this, know what you're talking about, and have valid information to back yourself, or someone else.

Keep it clean, and Roll With The Punches.

Let's go Wooden! tongue.gif

[sub]Wilhelm is good, but Wooden wins no contest. He is easily the best person with extended terrian in the world.[/sub]

Unfortunately Valug is right as much as i wish he was wrong. Wooden, atitude wise, and in that instance terrain wise, is a wise ass. Wilhelm is much more kind and sensible. However tile for tile wooden would win.

I've not seen WoodenFire doing terrain in no other tileset than Jungle, though I've seen Wilhelm doing it alot of times.

Have you seen him do that?

diversity of tile-mastery isn't useful at all..

i focus on 1 tileset the most for diversity and usefullness.

Jungle can still be used for RPG, Defense, Bound, Puzzel maps, Action games, anythin you could think of!? Even a Space game you could do by just making Worlds and such...

I have done terrain in ashworld and ice... i don't do badlands. I hate the more modern tilesets... even Installation is too plain and boring. The more boring = the more unprofessional a tileset, at least in my book.

I remember in the shoutbox Wilhelm admitted that Wooden was a better terrainer, but that Wilhelm could put it to a more practical use (or something like that...)

The reason people use jungle more than any other tileset(in my opinion) is that there are so many options to choose from and many different layers of terrain. Other tilesets such as ice only have like 7 or 8 different layers...

Wooden is making the terrain in DeathKnights 4, so of course he's better.

Well Death Knights 4 is screwed now. What made them so unique was their terrain, now you have some analogical a-hole who is going to do it. I feel that if Alpha did the terrain it would be better because its his creation and needs to be done by him.

As far as inbetween Wilhelm and Wooden who is the better terrainer is all within the beholder. You also have to look at it this way. Which one has more time to work on terrain? Is one a social fallout and all he does is make terrain? Could they both be that way? Are they both socially active? It comes down to the nitty gritty to decide truly who is better. For I say you can not crown the man that has the most time.

How can you do Jungle and not work with Badlands?

As for me, we all know how I feel about Twilight.

Comparing two people against one another, to see who is better?
I might let this go if the two sides competeing would hold this sort of tourniment, but to choose two people and have them duel it out is just a hassle on the two parties.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Wilhelm on 2006-05-23 at 19:06:49
I must admit that Wooden is better at seeing parts and pieces of terrain tile that blend into a piece, this essentially means I take longer to create the same blend. Also, his terrain has very little sense of depth, a double layer piece can turn into a single layer piece without "going down". It's like a big ol' Escher painting. I'm also alot less prolific.

I'd be alright with a contest, if it wasn't headed by one of Wooden's lackies.

If Blacker9Winter will agree, maybe someone esle should rate the map/pic (me!). It doesn't seem very fair that someone likes Wooden all ready and then rates his terrain. But, w/e.

I sure do hope this doesn't turn into a flamming war though.

I don't foresee this being a friendly competition. If Wilhelm and Woodenfire wish to have their terrain duels or whatever (without flaming), that's fine, but they're going to have to start it themselves.
