Storyline / Introduction

Year 3000. A new unknown organism has been found on another planet. You are aboard the scientific spaceship. This newly discovered form of life was underestimated - it got free. The radio has been destroyed, you can't report it, all you can do now is either kill it, or survive for 15 minutes untill the rescue team arrive. If you don't make it, there will be nobody to tell the rescue team what can this Thing do, and they will be infected. If it turns out this way, The THing can spread the infection.

Music, Sounds

Music will guide you all the time, making an atmosphere. Allso every N seconds (haven't decided yet) a random sound will be played.

You controll one unit in the battle.

-What's new in your map that others have not done before?
Oxygen ? If you run out of it, you're dead. If you die (permenantly), you leave allmost all oxygen you had, so people can fight over it.

Maybe it will turn out as Thing/Horror map in the end. wink.gif

Marine: 10 damage, 100 HP, 0 armour, Range upgrade, No stim pack
Ghost: 14 damage, 100 HP, 0 armour, no upgrades
The Thing (zergling): 14 damage, 120 HP, 0 armour, no upgrades
Infected Survivor (broodling): 10 damage, 60 HP, 0 armour, no upgrades

Oxygen
+15%; +30%; +45%; +60%; +75%; +90%

-Details
There will be not enough oxygen on the map for all players to exist all 15 minutes - somebody must die or be infected. (Now calculating it all)

Morph - a shift of states between a human and an alien form. Hotkey your both forms. When you want to morph, select the form that you want to become and click anywahere on the map. Works allmost instant. You don't have to loose controll in battle while giving the form the command to moove to the beacon.

Interesting ideas. Maybe try to expand it to more items/units to make it a bit more varied. I think ling is way too strong tongue.gif

Well, I had a lot of ideas that would turn it into a half RPG, with EXP, abilities, fear factor & such. But then I understood that it would be too complex & nobody will paly it.

The zergling controlled by a good player is supposed to be equal 2 survivors controlled by good players. It is, I have a lot of experience in Thing maps.

Maybe this one will force me to re-think some conceptual ideas, but for now it is fine I think.

Care to be a tester, DEAD ?

The Thing has always been a way to have wonderful fun in such a small game, with or without lots of friends. I can remeber The Thing v Reborn, and how many times I played it. Its kinda like playing Run Like a Mofo, great replay value and everything.

So what I'm saying is, make it another good one ;D

Ah yes, totally forgot to tell why is it called "Deadly trust". The story goes like this:
I start playing Thing, get better, find out about how to know who is the thing (or infected) (I call it "testing"), it annoys me. So, in this map "testing" will not be possible - you gotto trust a person. shifty.gif

Ahhh Another one of them types of maps... They are always fun!! I made 1 about Pitch Black a few years ago!!... I would add alot of stuff to make it differnt sounds awesome!!

Try to make this BETTER than the normal T.H.I.N.G.S people play on battle.net

Make up some original ideas such as:

Stamina for all players ( you can't constantly move )

Dehydration ( you must keep liquid in you )

Warmth Levels ( you can freeze if you aren't by a fire by so long )

A way to become human again ( Kill X# of players )

Just ideas like that, make it a fun map and have some cool scary music to add to the dramatic effect smile.gif

Stamina ? Well I'll think about it, but you will not see it in the first version. Maybe I will add it later if I will see that it does not spoil it.

Warm ? The Thing can camp near the fireplace then. I think it will make the game more static. Oxygen, on the other hand, should make people move more in attempts to find it. It will disable long-term campers.

Become human. Sorry, I want to make it closer to the original moovie.

I had a lot of ideas about it, like turning it into a half RPG, with EXP, abilities, Fear Factor & so on. But a medium player is allready confused by him becoming an infected survivor. I need to keep is simple for now.

I don't plan to use it, it was just an idea.

There are about 5 levels of fear. Level 0 is default for every player. Thing & all infected survivors don't get affected by fear.
If you see a death of 1 person near you, you get +1 to fear factor.
If The thing comes colse to you, but then runs off, you get +0,5 to fear factor.
If you are close to the place where somebody died (see blood) +0,5 to FF every 20 sec.

The higher the FF level the worser effect it gives (if you have FF=4, you have the effects of 1;2;3;4 fear factor levels)

Effects:
Turn off vision for yourself (randomize every N seconds)
Junk Yard dog (randomize every N seconds)
Use more oxygen
Scream (points out your location on minimap) (randomize every N seconds)
Paranonia (Randomly unally other people near you)

But I think it will only spoil the gameplay. You have a battle with the thing & you get vision turned off. Players will not like it.

By the way, what do you guys think about the sound I added in the first post ?

I can't work on it now, becawse I have some strange bug with SC, so I'll work on the sounds now. I'll add a fiew sounds out of the moovie - the sounds of thing screaming & so on, to make it more scary.
