Details

-Characters
•Cloud Strife - A mercenary once hired by the anti-Shinra group "Avalanche." Cloud became entangled with a much greater battle for the life of the planet itself. He faught for the world, and at the end of the bitter struggle saved the planet. While various versions of his past were intertwined in his memories, Cloud managed to regain an understanding of who truly he is during his journey in FFVII. Despite this, he now forsakens human contact and prefers to be alone.

•Tifa Lockheart - Cloud's childhood friend, and the only person who truly remembers his past. A master of martial arts, Tifa was also a key player in Avalenche operations two years ago. Currently she works at Seventh Heaven while caring for Marlene and the Midgar orphans.

•Vincent Valetime - A gunman and former Turk. In the past his body was augmented by Shinra and he gained the power to transform into an ageless monster, a burdan he must carry in life. Since that time, Vincent has wandered the world alone, gathering information, and seems to know little about the events they all face.

•Kadaj - Leader of the three brothers that are after Cloud. Prone to the purest of madness, calm yet savage, childish yet wise, Kadaj's mindset rocks from one extreme to the other. He primarily uses a double-edge sword known as the "Souba" (Twin blade).

•Yazoo - A youth who is unbound by worldly matters and thus a bit of an enigma. Yazoo carries the "Valvet Nightmare" a firearm designed after two parallel swords, but with only gun functionality.

•Loz - A young man who, despite his sturdy appearence, is really a childish crybaby. Loz mainly uses a pile bunker called the "Dual Hound" (A stun gun that doubles as a shield).

Funny. I just finished watching the movie before seeing this thread. As this game is actually based on the movie, it doesn't necessarily have to be a game based on fighting. Whoever said that? You could even base it around riding a motorcycle or something. From the movie, the only common enemies that exist are the wolves. The bosses are Kadaj, Yazoo, the third guy, Sin Bahamut, and Sephiroth. Unless you veer away from the storyline, it'll be difficult to keep a great battle system while being true to the storyline.

Since the movie actually didn't really focus on Materia (a dissapointment), Cloud shouldn't have any magic, just like the movie. Instead, he should have sword skills and varied fighting styles. I'm sure you've noticed that on the ocassion, he fights with dual swords, then back to one sword, etc. To simply imitate this effect, you could just have the player be able to switch from a Zealot to DT and back or something. As for sword skills, I recommend you to base it around combos and making a certain combination of sword techs in order to activate a special skill or something. I hope you get what I mean. Of course, such techniques in the battle would mean that it's ideal for a real time battle system, rather than a turn-based, or whatever else you can think of.

Next up, AC is a continuation of FFVII, which means Cloud does not start at level 1. To follow a realistic line, you could possibly have Cloud start at level 80, or even remove leveling altogether. The player should become better at fighting as he progresses through the game. With Cloud having Geostigma most of the movie, you could imitate this effect by having Cloud 'poisoned' throughout the time, which means he'll be taking additional damage until he becomes healed at the church.

And when I said that the game does not need to focus on the battles...think of something interesting as well. Since Cloud starts off in somewhere near Kalm (which is simply a guess), you could make a very scenic terrain road there, and have a sort of motorcycle mini-game where you have to get to Midgar under a certain time limit, while staying on the road. Wait, you're using the Jungle tileset? Personally, I would use badlands, since the ashpalt/compound tiles are very useful for imitating the effect of the Midgar slums. Besides the motorcycle at the beginning, there are other times that the player would need to beat the time limit as well (*Ahem* Reno/Rude's bombing of the highway *Ahem*). But aside from all the motorcycles and battle system, there's nothing else that I can think of at the moment. The rest is up to you. Good luck.

And the cliff the three antagonists were standing on was smaller than that...

Yazoo isn't the one crying Loz is. Loz is the big meaty guy, Yazoo is the one with the gunblade, and Kadaj is the one with two samurai swords on the same hilt.

This looks pretty bad.

All video games based off movies suck, this won't be much different. There aren't any enemies in the game, and Starcraft can make a complex battle system used in the game, so the novelity of awesome fight scenes is gone. There's only those black wolf things that appear at the begininng of the movie and one scene in Midgar where cloud isn't even there.

It was Loz, Yazoo is the guy with the Gun. And he used Blade Beam. Also he uses Braver/Cross-Slash against Sephiroth if you watch it.

CLOUD LIMIT BREAKS
(sure you already know these mah w/e)

QUOTE
Cloud Level 1

Braver - Beginning Limit Break. Cloud leaps and splits apart an single enemy with a powerful slash. This attack is extremely useful against many starting weaker enemies.
Cross-Slash - Unlocked after using Braver eight times. Cloud performs multiple devastating slashes on a single enemy. The enemy may be left paralyzed if it is not defeated by the move.

Level 2

Blade Beam -Unlocked after defeating eighty opponents with Cloud. Massive surges of energy emit from Cloud's sword and assault a single enemy. Smaller amounts for energy then spill out and attack weaker enemies in the surrounding area. This is a perfect Limit Break to use on groups of enemies.
Climhazzard - Unlocked after using Blade Beam seven times. Cloud impales an enemy then jumps into the air and inflicts massive damage. This is a great Limit to use throughout the game.

Level 3

Meteorain - Unlocked after killing 160 opponents with Cloud. Cloud leaps into the air and summons a rain of meteors to crash down onto a group of enemies. This attack should be used against a group of weaker enemies or against a single enemy, where it can cause devastating damage.
Finishing Touch - Unlocked after using Meteorain six times. Cloud produces a towering twister that hurls a group of enemies into the vortex. Most enemies will immediately be defeated while others will suffer great damage. This Limit should be used against groups of enemies.

Level 4

Omnislash - Located at the Battle Area; get 32,000 points and buy it there. This is Cloud's most devastating Limit. Cloud attacks a single or group of enemies with several critical sword slashes, inflicting massive damage on all enemies.
