Hey all, my entry submission for the may oceans contest has been added to the DLDB! Check it out here:

And for the record, I did not realize that someone was using (almost) exactly the same name as this until well after I named it.

I really am rather pleased with how this map turned out, in that it turned out exactly how I intended concerning strategy. The general idea behind the map is that all 4 players constantly spawn missiles (scourges, mainly) to send at each other, and by sending extra missiles at yourself, you gain minerals. With minerals, you can build up defense, send extra missiles, or cast effects that are either defensive or offensive. Once a missile touches your Battleship/overlord, you lose a life; 10 hits, and you're done. Last one standing wins! To prevent extra-long games, you can win by purchasing up to 15 lives, as well, but this rarely ever happens.

Overall, this map is all about balance between how much you are willing to risk sending at yourself that you believe you can kill, and at what point you are willing to try to reduce the opponents' lives. I think it's fun, but everyone has their own opinions. What do you think? wink.gif

I remember playing this game with you; it was quite fun too.

But like many of my maps, most of the public newbies just simply don't quite understand how to play this game. It's really annoying. What would help is adding an actual briefing and not just mission objectives.

But it's a good game to play. It's better with more than two players IMO because then the game doesn't feel as linear.

I'm gonna check it out, but if MA says its fun, then I might enjoy myself. So how'd you think you ranked in the competition?

Dude this map was not good at all.

Problems I had with this:

- Very boring gameplay
- Terrible triggering
- Didn't look professional

Overall: 2/10

I dunno if moose is going to enjoy this, but me and my friends sure didn't. Try harder next time.

8/10. The game is a little confusing at first, but it is fun. Even at the end, I still didn't get some of the things. What you should add:
Some sort of offensive strike.
Clearer briefing.
Colored text.

-I disagree.
-How so? You don't need complex systems for "good triggering"
-The only unprofessional thing is the lack of colored text.

DLK, do you ever give good reviews?

At least he does for me, but probably not on SEN. He said my Taxi game was my worst (with a 6/10) and that my other maps easily pwn it.

Thanks for all the feedback, everyone. However, lunatic, I would certainly appreciate it if you tell me that if there is a flaw in my triggering, where exactly is it? I didn't see any during my testing.

If this was the version that was submitted to the contest, then I think it would do really well. However, I didn't finish on time, and the version submitted isn't as good.

And dumbducky, the offensive strike can be done by using the civilian instead of the zergling in the missile area. Another way would be to increase spawn rate, which you can do up to 10 times. I tried to make the briefing as clear as possible, but it really is a confusing game idea, and it's hard to direct people on how to play it. Once you get it it's fun, though.

You should create a civillian at the Zergling area to begin with... I had no idea that you could do that.
