]Okay, I think we should be able to move our own topics. If you make a topic in null and move it to a forum that gives you a post count or a mineral count, it doesn't increase anything. And if you move it to a forum that doesn't originally increase anything, it still doesn't make a change.

It's annoying when you know you made a thread in the wrong forum and you have to close that one and make a new one, or report your own topic and wait for it to be moved.

I just think we should be able to move our own threads.

A moved thread will just cause a delay in discussion, and will eventually (A day) be moved to it's right place. You can lock topics in case it gets off topic or if you accidently made it a thread instead of a post. Posting in the wrong place isn't that bad.

Or you can get 1500 posts to gain Elite Status, thus having the ability to delete your own topic wink.gif

Members shouldn't even have the ability to lock their own threads in the first place. 90% of the time it's unlocked/locked when: a) they want the last word to be a OMG TUFF REBEL against moderators, b) they lock it just because THEY want to, discontinuing any discussion, or c) locking it because they feel cool locking a topic.

Yeah yeah, that third one is dumb, but hey, what good is a A and B without a C?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Golden-Fist on 2006-05-30 at 16:27:56
C isn't very fair. And techinally since it's there topic they sort of get to choose when it should be locked (I guess, unless a mod thinks otherwise). And I think that locking your own topics dates back to SEN v3, when people had sense.

Yeah, I never saw it abused back then (besides Camo's topic xD), but all I see it used now for is just for those reasons I stated above. Oh, and my reasoning for C is in the second line wink.gif.

Yeah, but neither should every member have the ability to end a good discussion that I was having just because I made him look bad.

The thing that I noticed is that once when one of my topics was locked, I wanted to say something really badly so I re-opened it and posted then locked it again. Does this cause a lot of problems from people re-opening locked topics that admins locked for a reason?

Refer to the last part of the post:

SENv3 had like 20 people active and they all knew each other, so it wouldn't cause that much trouble to lock your own topic. And there weren't that many heated debates anyway, things do change.

Simple solution. Add the fabled Überlite rank for those with 3000+ posts. Give them the ability to move topics. And maybe some other crazy stuff.

That would be a saweet idea, and you are like able to see everything on SEN like everyone warn levels and you can buy like 2 boxes every 23 hours and 59 seconds and 2 tickets of 50/50! That would be awesome!

No...

Don't think there should be another rank but if we have that one either make it the same as all or maybe is allowed to move topics. None of that other stuff like seeing warn levels and magic boxes.

That'd be abused so easily. It's more or less the staffs job to find out if your post is in the right section, and by now people should be able to read the forum descriptions enough to say "this isn't where I post this."

You can close your own topic's, but that's about it (as well as editing the topic title & description + the post itself)

If members could move topics, people like Farty would purposely post and move them into all the wrong forums just to leave the "Moved:" shadow!
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Red2Blue on 2006-05-31 at 03:18:19
Silly idea.

Moving posts could be one of the most annoying things imaginable. Not only would it allow users to completely abuse the system but it would make the moderator's work a lot more tedious than it should be. Imagine posting in a thread for a while, only to find out that it has moved, three times in a row to different forums. We would have to sub-forum hop just to get to it... shadow threads everywhere... like a desolate minefield.

Leave the moving to the moderators. They move them quickly and efficiently and on key. There's nothing else to say.

PS:
I remeber when the "Über" status was allowed back then. I suppose it was removed because it created a hierarchy of superiority... as well as making people go "omg I want that status." etc etc. So, having an Überlite status might bring about more complicating things than helping things... >_<

Just because you can, doesn't mean you should.
