Sorry, but SC is going to die around after 5 years. People would have grown to old, and the next generation of kids are obviously spoiled and do not like to look at stuff unless it has Toy Story type of graphics...
until Battle.Net CEO died
Starcraft forever! FTW
Considering it's lasted 8 years, if it lasts another 5 it has left a very impressive mark.
Anyway hopefully Sc2 will be....announced by then.
Starcraft will die when it loses compatibility with a new Windows OS. Until then, it will live on.
Even if it did die, im sure alot of people would still talk with their SC buddies. And im sure all the clans would move to another game especialy with all the next gen game systems with the online capability.
Starcraft may never die. Almost every game goes on for many many years, especially ones that are played online. There are a lot of loyal people to Starcraft that wont leave soon. When Starcraft 2 comes out many will go to that, if this game doesnt follow a lot like Starcraft did many wont like it and go back. Many will stay with it. I voted for 5 years because it will go for that or more!

obviously lol.. it's a game that has been fading for like 1 year now. Map making and other stuff has almost lost it's touch but remains live and well for now. To much tech advances so i will give it 2 years and bam.
Starcraft and the whole societies around it. It's a phenomenon. The game is good of course but it's something else that holds the countless people together. Even without playing starcraft too often all theses communities still live and will live on.
It'll die when this thread is made the 100th time. I think this is the 20th time I've seen this thread since I joined.
As DTBK said, and I've been saying for the past 2 years. Starcraft will die when it looses compatibility with the Windows OS, and with Windows Vista looming over the horizon, I don't think it'll last much longer than 3 years.
I say 3 years because not everyone is going to buy Vista the moment it comes out, it's always has been a gradual process to change OS. In terms of programming and how the game works with the OS, Starcraft has been on the verge of becoming obsolete. The game was made for Windows 98, we are about 3 OS after Win98, and if you look at WC2, at Win95 game, it isn't compatible with WinXP SP2.
Loyalty to the game isn't really going to be a factor. You'd be amazed at the amount of people on SeN that no longer play Starcraft, myself included. I've been playing the game for about 8 years, and yes, I've gotten tired of it. New games come out, and life changes. Many people also still play Starcraft because their computer isn't very powerfull to play other games, most of those people will switch games the moment they get a new PC.
Take WoW for example, I'm impressed with the amount of people there that have played Starcraft. I'd say that about 10% of the population has played SC, and not to mention the people who don't talk about it.
If I we're to say that I'm a loyal fan of something, It'd be to Blizzard.
Well will this topic stop being remade? When will RedNara stop remaking topics? When StarCraft dies out.
