Complex Defense
+++Name Tentative+++

\/Descripiton\/
In this game, each player is given a single Marine to defend the Energy Silo from an invading undead/alien race. This Energy Silo is the only thing keeping some of the humans on a terraforming planet. Most of the soldiers are currently battling above the surface, but some of the aliens are breaking inside.

The only assistance you have are from 16 turrets that are currently unpowered. Some brilliant guy didn't bring the cables. The only thing you can do is take batteries to these turrets to activate them. Of course, these batteries must all be re-charged before use. There are however, a few batteries currently operational. But these batteries were not ment to give so much power, so they will not last forever. They will stop after a set ammount of time and the depleted batteries must be re-attained, taken to the Battery Recharge station and charged. The station however can only charge two batteries at a time. This will also take the time out of charging the other batteries still charging from before the game started.

The turrets of course, have a limited range of fire. They cannot see very far and also have a sight angle of 150 degrees left and right. So they cannot shoot to their sides or behind them. There is also a healing station, but it is not instant. It will take some time for the devices to heal you, but you are free to leave before you are fully healed.

The name was actually made because you are fighting in a kind of complex sort of thing.

It's really not that hard. You just gotta run around collecting batteries and using them strategically. Basically, that means you cant just go out and place them all at once because they would all fail at once. So there is strategy involved.

I have a suggestion

The turret should be able to defend and u need to keep getting batteries to keep the turret shooting or else u lose

Sounds cool eatherway tho

I'm planning to keep batteries running for a little over two minutes after activation. I am currently trying to figure out how I am going to make everything fair. I dont think I'll enable all the spawns right away... hmm... *gets lost in thought*

Hey isnt there a way to freeze a turret from moving, maybe u should use dat concept when the battery is down
Report, edit, etc...Posted by iHaveNoRegrets on 2006-06-09 at 21:58:45
Yeah, thats what I plan to do. You really cant just sit back while letting your units do all the work in this game, you cant really divert attention for long.

Waiiit. D4mn! That idea wont work for my plan unless I waste another player, damn. And I am not good with Neutral players, they just dont work when I use them.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by EcHo on 2006-06-09 at 22:03:03
I dont mean giving it to another player. I mean freezing it. I think you have to move a observer directly over it and it will stop.

Lol... I think too much. I need to think simpler... No wonder I can never truly finish a map... This site may just change that. I may have to get my Onslaught maps back out of the rafters after this map...

finally, a new idea, sounds like its going to be good, just make sure you finish it.

I know... Seems like maps are just being remade over and over now-a-days... But thanks, I truly hope it comes out well. I dont think I'll get anything done this weekend.

How's it coming? Updates!
Report, edit, etc...Posted by iHaveNoRegrets on 2006-06-10 at 22:29:49
Allright... Well, I have decided to try some new things:

1. Instead of using an object or an actual turret, I am going to use sprites to identify turrets locations.

2. I am also going to try and just keep everything as simple as possible. Instead of having the turret stop, I am just going to replace it with the depleted battery for an easy pick-up and quicker return.

3. I have decided on a time for the batteries... It will be about a minute and a half operation time.

4. Also, when new batteries are created, there will be a three battery max in the waiting area.

5. You can only carry a single battery at a time, regardless whether or not it is charged or depleted.

That is all for my current updates.

EDIT: But I also need some help. Currently, the terrain is starting to get to me... Its completely plain. It's basically just quickly thrown together. Now, I'm no terrain mapper, but I need some suggestions. It has to be no more than 3 tiles in width. Keep in mind, it is a small map...
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Pyro_Maniak14 on 2006-06-10 at 22:52:30
You should have a specific unit or two that has the ability to carry multiple batteries. Or something like that. And have different type of batteries... Ones with faster recharges yet faster depletion and slow recharge rates and slow depletion. wink.gif
Report, edit, etc...Posted by iHaveNoRegrets on 2006-06-10 at 23:06:09
Thats not a bad idea... I have been pondering whether or not to allow you to choose multiple units. And as for the ability to carry multiple batteries, I am going to allow special gear to be purchased that will allow stuff like that, as well as other things.

As for the different batteries, I have been planning to do so. But doing this will result in the factor that you may have to give up money to upgrade batteries. There will be three types... Heavy, Basic, and Light. There times will be pretty far apart, so its really all up to you. Of course, changing a battery will instantly deplete it, so you best make sure you guys can suffer the loss.

Nice im lookin forward 2 this. If you need a tester PM me.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by iHaveNoRegrets on 2006-06-11 at 14:21:44
Actually, I may need a group of testers pretty soon. It could be tonight or sometime tomorrow. I'll update as soon as I am ready.

EDIT:
Sorry, but I cant make the extra batteries. I am too far in... But hey, there can always be another terraforming planet under attack... wink.gif

ADDITION:
I am going to need some testers today. First five to ask get to play.

(I cant test with because my disc doesnt work and I cant find a place to dl one from)

Oh, forgot to say something:

The map has only the most basic things. I havent added alot of what I want yet, I am just testing the turrets, batteries, and the heal.

ADDITION:
Well, I have added a demo into the first post. Please tell me about any errors and suggestions. Keep in mind...

This is the first test that this map has ever had. Everything is just out there...
