Staredit Network -> Games -> Blizzard's Main focus?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by smasher25 on 2006-06-11 at 22:26:30
ok the only Blizzard game I ever played was Starcraft. I've never seen how fun Warcraft and Diablo are so heres a question? What type of game does blizzard focus on the most after Starcraft ghost? Will they return to the world of Starcraft and make a proper strategy game? Will they make another warcraft game? Will they create another Diablo game? Or will they create a different type of game? A new generation?

What does Blizzard Focus on?
You lack some understanding of how Blizzard Works.

Blizzard is located in California.
They have 3 different buildings.
Each building is basically a division.

Blizzard North, oringally Condor, creates the RPG's such as Diablo and World of Warcraft. Currently making WoW's expansion and possibly a side project of D3 because expansions normally don't require a full effort of everybody and that Blizzard North has been hiring for a while. Although D3 is just speculation.

Blizzard HQ, oringal company, creates the RTS's such as Starcraft and Warcraft. They have not announced anything since Wc3:TFT, they are working on something most likely Sc2 or Wc4. More Likely Sc2....cuz I said so.

Blizzard Console, acquired during E3 2005 oringally Swingin Apes, last project known was Sc:G, they were acquired because Blizzard liked how they were going on Sc:G. No one really knows wtf these guys are doing now with that last Sc:G annoucment.

I sorta meant what Blizzard cares about the most, and is focusing on speeding up the process of developing stuff.

Blizzard has an intense amount of funds. Blizzard does swap people from building to building here and there, but nothing major.

Basically what im saying is Blizzard dosn't focus all there intention of one single game or division. If a Division wants to expand they hire people.

Blizzard, like most companies, dosn't announce a game until it is well into production. And when it is announced it will usually take about 6 months to 2 years for it's release.

They will focus once again on making sure hacks be banned and add patches to change random stuff. Hopefully ghost will be internet orinted, blizzard will spend it's time their. So i don't believe blizzard will make anything for awhile.

Blizzard is notorious for decrapifying their games over very extended periods of time. WarCraft III felt as if it were never going to come out after the initial announcements. However, Blizzard does seem strangely quiet these days. Since Ghost is on indefinite hold (though I'm sure they're still trying to finish it before the X-Box 360 is replaced by the next-gen X-Box Version 3), and the WoW expansion is nearly complete, they are surely working on some game or are about to at the very least.

The focus mostly on WoW, 'cause they want the money.

WoW is a money barrel. I see no reason to discontinue it or give it less attention from a financial standpoint. Of course, who isn't tired of Warcraft?

I highly doubt Blizzard would say "Hey guys, guess what! We just fired the people responsible for (insert game here)!" The only people that quit..

On June 30, 2003, several key employees left the company to form the new companies Flagship Studios (8 moved here) and Castaway Entertainment (9 moved here). Two unannounced games were in production at the time, with one forced to be canceled due to around 30 employees leaving the company in total. Geoff Fraizer of Blizzard Entertainment has since said the canceled game was a "Blizzard North kind of game", from which some draw the conclusion that "Diablo 3" has been canceled. Blizzard North had only worked on Diablo games since Blizzard's acquisition of Condor until the time of this exodus. The resignations were partly due to a conflict with Blizzard Entertainment's owner Vivendi Universal, and partly due to employees wishing to start something new.

On August 1, 2005, Blizzard Entertainment announced the shutting down of Blizzard North, saying that it will move its remaining employees to its head offices to resume work on an “unannounced project" which most believe is the third installment in the Diablo series.

..were those people.

Low quality computers have a hard time with WoW now. Only top of the line computers could run next-gen graphics WoW. I have doubts if mine would be able to.
