I think it was taken from my bag in class. I just got it a couple weeks ago, so the warranty is okay (if that even matters). I have a hunch who might have took it, but that's not good enough. There's a week left of school and it's been missing since thursday. Nobody knows except myself and some friends.

What do I do? Call the cops? I'm really really upset.

My name and phone number is luckily engraved on the back. No phone calls. dontgetit.gif

Cops won't care about a little ipod, and if ipods are not allowed in your school, you can't complain to them either. If the warranty will repleace it, I would just stick would that, since no one is going to help you. Or you could always beat the person up you suspect of it. Then the cops would care D=

Stealing something over $250 is grand larsony, which is a felony.

Idk how you'd get the cops involved. Have them search for it?

If it doesn't turn up in a while, just get the warranty on it saying it was stolen.

Now you can't listen to all 10 of your songs or should I say, 96 hours worth, ah hah, pun.

That sucks, which kind of Ipod was it? I have a nano, I never lose it though, I suggest keeping it in your pocket instead of bag. But then again, you're a girl, you don't have pockets...

I miss my iPod too.

Tell the police. They might be able to do something.

just tell the person who you think took it that you know its him and you will tell the cops if you dont give it back
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Xx.Doom.xX on 2006-06-12 at 16:33:14
Say i know it's him to the police or school! Then if he doesnt give it back, murder him. that solves every thing smile.gif. Jk, ummm Yea i would tell the police so they question him on the phone or at station. but im not sure if the police go looking for someone's possesion or something. Only like people. So you could post up missing signs. (I doubt that would work though). Sry... cry.gif

P.s. I have an mp3 and the gay-a** volume wont go down. And the music keeps only going in 1 part of the headphone. So I!, might get the iPod shuffle 1GB OR the iPod Nano 1 GB or 2 GB.

Hope you find your iPod though closedeyes.gif . Im sure u will! wink.gif

Contact your school administrator or something. The same thing happened to me at the beginning of the year. I didn't get it back though. sad.gif
But I would also try going up to the kid and give him crap about it and if he honestly doesn't have it then just apologize to him.

Oh and I'm not completely sure about what the cops could do but it is worth a shot. I saw something on the news about stolen Ipods so maybe it would be enough to get the cops involved. I mean some bikes are stolen and they aren't even 100$ but the cops still look for those.

You could try going over to the kids house and talking to his parents to put him on the spot and get him in trouble

theres also the fact that he may give it back if he is pressured to by his parents tongue.gif

then again, if he doesn't have it/he lies about it you could get yelled at and have a enemy for life disgust.gif

Heh, I lost my iPod just recently too, as in 1 week ago. I think it was my brother's friends. A fat asian and some thief morrocan... not sure which one of them too it.

I had a warranty on it too but I don't know what I can do sad.gif I want to kick my brother's friends ass, but not sure if they even took it.

Your best shot is just to ask the office at your school to announce it over the P.A.. Unless you know where the iPod would be specifically in your suspects house, police wouldn't be able to obtain a search warrant. Even then, search warrants are mostly for finding illict firearms and drugs... not nifty electronics theft. The best police could do is intimidate your suspect by asking him questions, sometimes that's enough to bring out their concience. Although it's good that your name and phone number are on it, because it show that it's clearly yours.

Honestly... don't leave out anything expensive, and small. Those are the most tempting things for theives. Doing that is the same as leaving your drink unattended. You don't do it.

Well... hopefully you just misplaced it or something =P

Well, if I misplaced it in class, it's still gone.

Also, I talked with the suspected kid. I confirmed it really wasn't him and he's trying to help me out. There's a couple other things that could have happened:
    a) I didn't lose it in class, but after class while going to my locker. This means anybody could have taken it.

    b) I misplaced it in class, and someone took it.

    c) I simply misplaced it (hoping).

    d) It was found in class and accidentally tossed by the janitor. This could have happened as it was in the black case that came with it. However, it's not probable as it's rather heavy.
I haven't told my parents, but I'm going to have to soon. I think I'm just going to get a part-time job again and work for another one, worst case scenario. Not TOO bad.

Oh, oh! I just thought of something brilliant. Tell some really sad story to your friend in hearing distance of your suspect. And like... break down in tears. Maybe it'll get the better of him or her and he or she will be like "Oh... umm, I found it on the ground =S"

ADDITION:
Oh... Nevermind... =(

Remember. If you claim it as theft, I'm pretty sure the warranty covers a replacement.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by LegacyWeapon on 2006-06-12 at 23:04:32
Contact the police and make sure you have proof that you actually owned it and actually lost it.

Search everywhere again making sure you didn't misplace it. It'd be embarrassing to find it in your jeans pocket after contacting the police.

I think they'll help you find it because of these news articles where te police arrest teens for stealing iPods:

Every case in those articles was a mugging Legacy. This situation is completly different. She doesn't even know if it was a male or a female.

Kow, I'm pretty sure any company who offered replacments for lost/'stolen' iPods would be broke. Fraud would be too easy to commit.

I have an extended warranty, two extra years. So, if the warranty DOES cover theft (which I doubt), then I'm okay. However, they'll probably need more proof than "someone took it from my bag" to convince them it was actually stolen.

How stressful .sad.gif
