Staredit Network -> Lite Discussion -> Recycling Plastic Bags

All right, you know at the front of some grocery stores there is a bin that asks you to recycle plastic bags there? I work at a grocery store, and I was getting a tour of the back room and another employee walks in with a bunch of recycled bags from the front of the store. He then throws this down the opening we have that leads to the dumpster. A stocker who was back with us was like "Aren't those the bags that are supposed to be recycled?" and the employee said "We only recycle our brand and we throw the rest away." Everyone, including me, was shocked and were saying "What's the point of having it?" and "Your not helping the enviroment either" etc etc...

Is this normal, or am I just behind what businesses in America do?

Its not that big of a deal! You could just be behind what stores do in America too. Not everything is the way it appears. At the marina I work at, On my first day a couple weeks ago, I was cleaning a boat and I like doing a good job. I was cleaning this one boat for about 10 minutes and one of the general managers walks over and said are you done? I was like no, half way though. He's like. Oh we normally just do a quick rinse ere and just get the heavy stuff off and if the owner of the boat wants to pay an extra 600 to 800 dollars we give it a clean scrub and make it like new. When I worked at my dads marina, wich I dont because working with your family sucks! I always did a good job no matter what. No extra 600 to 800 bucks to make it look shiny. This didnt shock me just gave me an idea of about how much better my dads shop is to the one I work at now! blink.gif

I don't have those "Recycle Grocery Bag" places where I am. You can either take their carboard boxes that they took from some of their packaging or use their bags or your won. About the we only recycle our own bags, that is pretty stupid, there is no point to have that.

7-7, why must you always have exclamation marks all the time? Are you that excited when posting blink.gif ?

I think dat store is hypocritic. They think for themselves because they are too lazy to save the environment. In India they banned plastic bags. You gotta bring your own bag.

Now that's really stupid, but better than my country anyway, in where there are no bins for plastic bag recycling at all..

At least your country store isn't using False Advertisement.

Either way... it's pointless to argue... it's how America is... stuck-up people who only care about their own trademarks. Think of yourself... before others.

Maybe your store is afraid of other store's cooties, thus they do not recycle other bags. Hey, they have cooties. I know it.

Lots of places don't even use the recycle bins. I have witnessed several times janitors simply emptying the cans only bins into the garbage bins they have.

I hate the false sense of security, or whatever it is, if you have it use it.

Am I the only one who just saves the bags and reuses them around the house when I need to?

Nope lol.. Save the bags, use them later so you dont have to buy bags at places you have to, and so u can store them at home.
