Here's the entire article
But since this is SEN you should read the two pages of intrest:
Gaming Performance On Vista
General Performance
That's pretty disappointing. The good news is that everything not gaming related is basically copying Mac, which is nice seeing as how the OS used on the super awesome computers at my school work pretty well. But Microsoft still screwed it up by adding "3D Flip Book" which is useless and adds on to the system requirments. Oh yeah: Here are the system requirments. Am I the only one who thinks it's obsurb to have a whole Gigabyte of RAM to run an Operating System?

Ugh... yet another reason why I won't be upgrading.

I agree, the system requirements are absurd. Most computers have 1GB or less of RAM, how are these people supposed to do anything with Vista?

Those are possibly oppinions, because I don't know anything about 'AnAndTech' site.

Any slow performance is probably due to very little driver support for beta versions of Vista.

Also Vista requires 512megs, it requires 1024 if you want to push it with Aero. Although when playing games Vista will unload mostly everything from the ram.

"In the mean time, Microsoft's development of WDDM comes at a cost: NVIDIA and ATI are currently busy building and optimizing their drivers for WDDM 1.0. The result of this is that along with Vista already being a beta operating system, their beta display drivers are in a very early state, resulting in what we will see is very poor gaming performance at the moment."

Meh talking about ram a lot of new computers have 2gb of ram... But atm it seems like its going to be hard to upgrade to vista using a current pc...

and btw a lot pc games these days require 1 gb of ram atleast, which my computer cant do :\

Meh you never know until you use it for yourself... And I dont know much about computer, lol so i cant really understand that well expect look at the number and see that vista game performance has dropped..

Actually most newer games only require 512mbs of RAM for average to high performance =\

It's only in it's beta, things will change, I assume. And yeah, when you're playing a game as Min said, it'll unload most of the stuff on it, so RAM it's not going to make that big of a deal.

Opinions on what? If you read it (all 10 pages or so) there's isn't any: "What a crpapy system" "this sucks" etc. They only compare it to previous versions of Windows, so being biased against an older Windows or a Newer Windows is useless. They run tests on the computer, they don't just discredit it because they hate new things. And it's a good website, read other stuff at their homepage, it's good stuff.

Yeah they mentioned a few times that since it's only beta there can be a lot of problems. HOPEFULLY things will get better, but those system requirments are still disappointing.

I would also like to note that Anandtech in my opinion have always given reasonable reviews on well any review I have ever read by them.

The one tomshardware did wasnt looking to good either. But this is still a beta so maybe things will still even out.

But for now im going to stick with TinyXP. This OS has absolutely no system requirements whatsoever. It uses just 40mb of ram and takes 7 minutes to install. The installer is like 150mb and it only uses 13 processes at install time. Good for games and surfing internet.
