Ok I have a question about custom terrain. Im working on a new rpg and I want a little custom in it so i was wondering if you start out with ISOM and if you want a part in that area to be custom you use tile or do you start out with tile?

its generally a good idea to start with ISOM. you can usually get away without a premade isom layout for smaller pieces, but for a whole map, always use isom

Agreed. I start with isometrical and then edit what I want.

(question, why do people cap the isom like so: 'ISOM'? That usually refers to the crappy program titled ISOM...)

ADDITION:
One thing... I always seem to 'run out of room'(if you know what I mean), so make sure you leave enough space between everything just in case.

yeah im not going to make an entire map of custom terrain just a couple parts so i should make the entire map of isom ( thats for you jello lol ) and add the custom after im done with the tileset right?

yep, exactly that way. it might take a little bit of work though to make every align right and you can't blend isom with individually placed tiles.

ISOM is the name of the isometrical tile mapping section in the CHK.

Its generally a good idea to start out with isom so you stuff doesn't end up with hieght problems or width problems. But for small peices knock yourself out. biggrin.gif

just start with isom, then put in some tiles, customize and stuff, and voila. If its blocky u can be noobish sorta and add some sprites to cover it up or just leave it
