I have a death counter that SHOULD last one minute (720 deaths, I also tried 600), and the countdown I have to show when the death counter is done finishes several seconds before the death counter does.
So, should I get rid of the countdown, or use trial-by-error to get the time exactly right.
Why don't you just base your conditions off of the countdown timer? If you're trying to get things like half-seconds in and such, you can even start a death counter based off of the countdown and use that.
Countdowns are unreliable in my opinion, I only wanted them to show the players when they'd get their minerals.
well if they get their minerals at 0:00 why not do countdown timer is exactly 0 ( or 1 -- 0 can be a female dog if the countdown timer doesnt start untill after a few seconds) then add the minerals i see no reason to do countdown with DC's aswell as a Timer there is no logic behind it from my view :s
I REALLY didn't want to accociate the countdown with any triggers (besides the one that starts it), so I'll just have it display text and play a sound when you get the minerals (it would be more reliable than something you have to look at). Thanks!
Countdown timers are as reliable as any other condition. As long as you do it right... Just do, countdown timer is at most 1 second, add minerals, reset timer.

i hope u ment when u said that -- that you was going to make it display only when you get minerals coz if not ull get spammed with

Time Left 8 etc... also as killer kow said a countdown timer is reliable its not hard to use one hook sum hyper triggers up and when its exactly 1 set it to 1:01 and add the minerals (1:01 because it stops at 1 so u want 1 minute exactly but 1:00 is just as good)
It'll say "you have recieved minerals" or something like that just when you get the minerals, not "3 seconds left" or stuff like that. And I know that Countdown timers work, I just don't like using them.
I just with SEN'll have a Dragon theme contest that'll allow an unlimited size map...
Countdown timers modify for game speed, death counters don't. Remember that 1:00 on a countdown timer is only 1:00 on Normal speed. This might be why they aren't lining up.
My suggestion is to make a test map where it constantly adds gas and see how much gas you get from 2 minutes on a countdown timer to 1 minute. Then you'll be able to collaborate for Fastest, since everyone plays on fastest anyways.
Another suggestion would be to use gas, a leaderboard, or minimap text to make your own timer..
