I have compiled a report of the greatest UMS maps ever created. Please don't yell at me if you disagree, or if I missed something, keep in mind, I assume I'm entitled to my opinion, and that I can only name maps that I've actually played. So without further ado, here it is:
- The Best Maps of SC and Categories -
RP's + DND
Ticondera v.Summer - A very well made RP, most people's favorite, with very good terrain and units that stay very true to DND.
Master D&D v1.5 - A very good, easy to use map, with no bugs, as opposed to Dragon's Land which sucks balls.
Arena
Room Wars - A very unique, original, and old map, considering this was made with regular Staredit and was made for original SC. You fight for rooms in a maze filled with constantly changing doors, and every room will get you better units, and control of different rooms such as the middle room will get you better units.
Desert Castles - A very complicated map where you work on a team, and everyone is in charge of a different role in your castle. This is very hard to learn how to play (especially wizard AKA king, which is my favorite), but once you get the hang of the game, it serves as a very competive and fun game.
Special Agent Training v2.3 - A very old map, is very simple, but well made and fun, with absolutely no bugs. You pretty much run around a large arena, picking up weapons and killing each other, first to 50 kills wins. Think Unreal Tournament, there are also some weapons such as the rocket launcher, which instead of something such as a minigun changing your character to a marine, gives you a defiler, and when you use dark swarm.... BOOM.
Aerial Combat 2.1 - In this, you just fly a shuttle around, and you have 8 units in the shuttle, unloading whichever one, will make you shoot interceptors, yes interceptors in that direction, say NE, and everytime you hit people with interceptors, which are missles, they take damage. Health is kept by the scoreboard. This is a very unique concept, and is actually very addictive, mad fun too.
Half Life Team Fortress - Plays like V-tec, which everyone should know. This is really well made and balanced though, unlike V-Tec.
Mario Kart Battle v2.1 - Mario Kart! Just like the Mario Kart 64 battle mode. Fun, fun, fun, fun. The triggers are VERY well made too.
Tactical Paths v1.1 - There are only two maps I worship for being absolutely amazing, this and Chess by GoldenUrg. This map, by Rantent, is a simple, arena map, with 4 modes to choose from:
Arena - A basic frag arena, first to 20 kills wins.
Capture the Flag - Bring the flag to your teams base, first to 5 wins
King of the Hill - Find and then defend the hill for 100 seconds to win.
Territories - Capture all the flags on the map to win.
This map really doesn't have good triggers, or good gameplay, but has the best terrain in any map, Rantent is a terrain god, just like how GoldenUrg is a trigger god. What you should do, is get this map, get a map hack, and go check out the terrain. The terrain has effects of layers and pops up and stuff, doesn't look 2d at all, there even is the simple, but nice waterfall effect at one spot on the map (The one with observers and stuff to make the water look like it's moving). Simply put, using something like SCM draft to put every terrain peice in, block by block, enabled him to create mountains, as high as four or five layers, as opposed to all other maps which have only 3 main layers on most tilesets, ground, high ground, and water/space, plus many, many, many awesome terrain features. You have to see it to believe it.

Assassins RPG - A very, very hard map (but also very well made), where instead of most RPG's where you run in gungho, you have to sneak around and use your wits. Anyone rushing in, will die. This is supposed to be beatable with a single player, but I still haven't beaten it, and I was playing with 2 other seasoned veterans of this map.
Diablo 2 RPG v.True - This plays just like real Diablo, run in, smash things, run back, heal, run in, smash things... Personally, I think this is the best version of SC D2 to date, and serves it's fun when you want to play an RPG and are bored of the other ones.
Honourless - This map by PGconquerer is THE best RPG ever made. It is a one player RPG, with a very in depth storyline and gameplay. STORYLINE, something most SC RPG's don't have, a good storyline at that, with character personalities and all.
Dungeons and Dragons B.net - Another map by PGconquerer, one of his earlier ones. Still has a very good storyline, but gameplay and storyline are worse than Honourless, but that's because in this, there is multiplay capability.
Dune RPG v1.00 - DUNE! All fans must play this. It is actually a very well made RPG, based on a very good book. So simply put, it rocks.
June 6th 1944 - This is a D-day beach RPG, but is very well made, only 1 bug, which doesn't affect the game too much. This is simply very well done with many different ways to beat it, and amazing gameplay. Very fun, the gameplay is actually very close to Battlefield 1942.
Tactical Warfare
Jungle Accumilation - This, made by one of my friends, I don't remember his exact screenname right now, so I'm not going to put it down, is another unique idea, with very balanced gameplay, and is mad fun. You pretty much have to mine gas to win, but the only place there is gas is in the middle of the map. You play as terran, but this still isn't like melee, things have different hp, atk, cost, etc... Anyway, I actually keep beating him at his own game, which is pretty embarrassing for him, but then again, I just rock. =)
Diplomacy Gold 7.7 Official - Everyone knows this, it's the UMS map people actually make clans about. I'm not going to describe it, you must know it.
Movie Maps
The Battle.net Experience 1 and The Battle.net Experience 2 - These are the funniest movie maps I've seen, pretty much outlining a day in the life of a errm... Starcraft game. I can't describe it to you, just go watch them both.
Other
Chess - What can I say, it's chess, but it's so impressive because this must have been impossible to do. GoldenUrg, the guy who made this, did it, and guess what, without any bugs. People have been trying to check it for bugs, none have been found. So... count the triggers... 1 million, 2 million, 3 million... (sorry I took your comment Scotinator)
http://www.staredit.net/index.php?download=303Driving Test - Very, very, fun and funny. It's a driving test, and you have an evil instructor. It has pretty well made triggers, but this map is mainly for comedic value.
GTA Classic v0.971 - This, made by DEAD, is a brilliant map, made exactly like GTA, including running people over with cars, which is the most fun part of this game, just like GTA. The only problem is, this game gets REALLY laggy, due to the sheer amount of sprites and units needed for this.
END- Gimme some feedback.
