I just thought of this: Oftentimes, in the original StarCraft campaign, Protoss will greet each other with "Entaro Adun, <name>." They also have a structure called the Citedel of Adun, which researches an upgrade to make Zealots run faster.
Who was Adun? Some sort of famous Protoss shoe-company tycoon?
Yes it's a shoe company, because protoss wear shoes.
wow I acctualy read most of it. Kind of interesting.
If you read about the official Blizzard map "Deceptions", some of the secret information the pirates find is very, very interesting.
Perhaps some insight into Starcraft 2?
"Some of the computers they hack into have interesting information, such as files on reconstructing injured humans using Protoss Dragoon technology, Zerg/Human genome manipulation, a case study on Dark Templar cloaking fields, and how to transfer brain data into terabyte holodrives."

I read the big old book that came with SC a few years back. I think I still remember all of the storylines, lets see:
Terran
During 2150 or something, Earth was humongously overpopulated. Many dictators came and went blah blah blah, then a project was started. The goal was to take convicted criminals and send them off in 3 ships to habitable planets. The trip was supposed to take 3 years, and the people in the ships were supposed to be asleep for the whole trip. But something went wrong, and they ended up on a 30 year trip, finally crashing with massive data losses from the ships databases. The terran civilization started there.
Protoss
The protoss were originally a race with many tribes, and for some reason the Xel'naga decided to evolve them. They secretly monitored and changed them, and gave them psi or something. Eventually, they decided to reveal themselves to the protoss. The protoss saw them as leaders and worshipped them. But after some time, they began to distance themselves with the Xel'naga. Finally, the Xel'naga called the protoss experiment a failure, and left Auir. The protoss tribes blamed each other for loss of their masters. This started the Aeon of Strife. The Adun came and brought the Kala and reunited the protoss. There was one tribe that refused to join the Kala, and were banished from Auir. They became the Dark Templars.
Zerg
The Xel'naga eventually found a race of parasites, who they named the zerg. They decided to create the overmind, which would rule the entire zerg race. This would keep the aeon of strife from happening. For some stupid reason, the overmind decided to kill the Xel'naga. So it did.
Did I miss anything?Adun wasn't the founder of the kalas energy, it was Kalia (or some name like that).
The overmind destroyed the Xel'naga worldships because he became aware of them and their restraint on him and thought of himself as their equal or superior and decided to rid them. He then immediatly cut all communications with them and sent waves after waves of zergs destroying most or all of their worldships; then he absorbed all of their knowledge and found out about the protoss and wanted to bring them into the zerg fold.
When they reached the Terran sector, he realized that the protoss had one thing that could stave off their assimilation into the zerg, psi energy. He then planned to first assimilate the Terrans because of their ability to also use psi, though not as good as the protoss it would make it easier to conquer the protoss. Sadly for the Overmind the protoss found parasite on terran worlds and decided to destroy all the parasites (or the worlds themselves) which stagnated the Overminds efforts to gain better psi powers.
